Wageningen | 8–10 April 2025
From 8–10 April, the Soil Health Conference 2025 brought together researchers, innovators, and stakeholders from across Europe to Wageningen, all with one shared goal: improving soil health.
Organized by Horizon Europe project AI 4 Soil Health, the international conference offered a mix of keynotes, discussion panels, workshops, oral talks and demonstrations focusing on science, technology and business intelligence for measuring and increasing soil health.
The SOILCRATES team was proud to contribute through various sessions and formats:
🎤 Day 1: Ana Romero-Freire delivered an oral talk on how the SOILCRATES EU project can contribute to increase soil literacy among local stakeholders in the Granda-region sharing insights from a recent survey that mapped current knowledge levels.
🎤 Day 2: Emiel Elferink, gave an oral talk explaining more about the concept of Living Labs and how this bottom-up approach can build the bridge between the world of science and the daily practice for farmers.
His talk highlighted:
🔹 The development of best practices for healthy soil factsheets (WP5)
🔹The experiments that will take place in close cooperation with farmers and other stakeholders via the SOILCRATES Open call (WP2)
🔹 The scientific research framework that will support the experiments along the project (WP4)
In adition, during the poster Exibition, the SOILCRATES team presented the project posters showcasing the four Living Labs in Ireland, France, Spain, and the Netherlands and the Soil Health Indicators used within the project sparking meaningful conversations and creating exciting opportunities for collaboration.
We thank Marjoleine Hanegraaf, Clémentine Eynard, Emiel Elferink, Jildou de Raad and Ana Romero-Freire, for their participation and contributions to this event presenting the SOILCRATES EU project as a key contributor to the dialogue on soil health and sustainable land management. 🌍
