A Better Building Experience.
About us
At Shawmut Design and Construction, we promise our clients a better building experience. As an award-winning construction management firm, we are dedicated to outperforming expectations every day—a responsibility we take seriously as employee-owners and a promise we make to each one of our partners. Right from the start—all the way to the ribbon cutting—we promise our clients a building experience that’s the very best. Winning for clients is our passion. We succeed when our clients enjoy the building process as much as the building itself. To be the best, we need to cultivate the best talent. We work to create an inclusive environment where everyone reaches their fullest potential, with a Diversity Leadership Council driving our journey toward diversity, equity, and inclusion. Shawmut is 100% employee-owned which means every employee has a vested interest in the success of the company and the success of our clients’ projects. As part owners through the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), each employee takes pride in being part of a talent-driven and leading-edge organization focused on delivering exceptional client service.

The #ShawmutBuilt Parkside Market in the Downtown Disney District in Anaheim was featured in Commercial Construction & Renovation’s 2025 Project Profile Awards. Today we proudly joined the City of Pawtucket, RI to break ground on the new Pawtucket High School—a $326 million, 375,000-square-foot #ShawmutBuilt learning complex that will transform the historic site of McCoy Stadium. This next chapter for the iconic site will bring to life a modern, forward-looking high school designed to be a vibrant hub of learning and opportunity. We were honored to mark this milestone alongside Governor Dan McKee, Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien, House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi, Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green, Pawtucket City Council members, Acting Superintendent Randy Buck, and members of the Pawtucket School Committee—as well as our project partners Colliers Project Leaders and Jonathan Levi Architects. When UMass Chan Medical School recruited a new principal investigator during the final stages of construction on their $350 million #ShawmutBuilt new education and research building, they turned to Shawmut and our partners to seamlessly adapt lab spaces to support the needs of their cutting-edge research. This pivot required the project team to rapidly incorporate seven new mass specs—all while maintaining the schedule and budget for the larger 350,000-square-foot facility. The result? True collaboration, flexibility, and a steadfast commitment to delivering for our partners—and overcoming any challenge.
