Along with seven radio stations, the company owns KTVN-TV Reno and WRCB-TV Chattanooga. All are leaders, serving their hometowns with award winning news, sports and entertainment programming. The company was founded by Sarkes Tarzian, an Ottoman-born engineer who moved to the US with family to pursue the American dream. Tarzian became a leading manufacturer of radio and television equipment and was a pioneer in the development of FM radio.
To this day, Tarzian’s legacy of innovation lives on. WRCB’s “Local 3 News” is a leader both on-air and on-line, producing more than 40 hours of news and community programming a week with around the clock coverage on local3news.com. The station has been recognized with numerous awards including a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence.
KTVN’s “2 News” is based in the heart of one of American’s booming tech hubs, Reno, Nevada. Capitalizing on Sarkes Tarzian’s history of innovation and Reno’s emerging tech culture, KTVN leads the way on all platforms starting with 33 hours of award-winning local news a week plus website, mobile app, and OTT digital platforms.
Founded by a family of immigrants, Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. has always held a strong commitment to a diverse, inclusive workplace. Today, Tom Tarzian, Sarkes’ son serves as CEO, leading the family owned broadcasting company in an age of conglomerates.
