Through the RRPV | Rapid Response Partnership Vehicle Consortium, BARDA is expanding its partnership with mRNA vaccine developer Moderna to expand a rapid pandemic influenza response capability that can pivot quickly, if needed, to address other health security threats, such as emerging infectious diseases. In a flu pandemic, developing and distributing vaccines is essential to curbing the spread of disease and saving lives. The funding announced today will support the manufacturing of investigational mRNA vaccines and clinical trials needed for FDA to consider licensure and help the U.S. become better prepared for potential commercial scale-up in response to future health security threats. BARDA is partnering with Fred Hutch Cancer Center to support validation of an intracellular staining assay for testing of clinical samples from Project NextGen studies. This project will advance scientific knowledge of T-cell immune responses produced by next-generation vaccines to protect against emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. RPP-24-08-mRNALongTerm The RRPV will be hosting a Virtual Industry Day on Wednesday October 30th, from 1:30-4:00pm eastern, for the Rapid Pandemic and EID Vaccine Development Response Capability solicitation. The Industry Day will provide responses to initial questions and provide an opportunity to ask additional RPP related questions to BARDA representatives. Following the Industry Day, BARDA will be conducting 1-on-1 meetings to allow organizations to discuss their technology and ask specific questions. This virtual event will be open to RRPV Members, and non-members, who are interested in learning more about the effort.
