With Google's Willow announcement having made such headlines in popular press, its pertinent to flag that Global Quantum Intelligence's (GQI) recently published 'Road to Shor Era Quantum Computing' already includes a review of this chip (based on the August arXiv preprint) it's just that we didn't know that it was called 'Willow' at that time. Indeed, Road to Shor uses Googles own Λ parameter as a key metric. The analysis of the 'Google 105Q' chip on page 36/37 makes the key points. Highlight is: "Google recently completed an impressive demonstration of real-time quantum error correction using codes of increasing distance, though with only a modest Λ of 2.14 ± 0.02". GQI's 'The Road to Shor Quantum Computing' is the most complete analysis available anywhere of the current quantum processor landscape and includes a description of the challenges that still need to be overcome to achieve a quantum computer that can run Shor's algorithm to factor a 2048 bit number. This report was developed by GQI in association with the NATO Innovation Fund.
