At the Partnership, we believe a strong and effective government requires a high-performing, apolitical workforce. This principle has guided our work for more than 20 years and continues to drive what we do. Today, we launched FedSupport, a centralized hub that provides critical resources to current and former federal employees who are navigating this time of uncertainty. You can find answers to frequently asked questions, blogs, fact sheets, webinars, upcoming events and stories about federal workers. FedSupport demonstrates our commitment to supporting civil servants, whether you continue to serve our country or are transitioning to new opportunities. Explore the hub here: fedsupport.org

Right now, we know federal employees are facing terminations, deferred resignation offers, reductions in force and more. We created a FAQ in our FedSupport resource library on reductions in force to help former and current federal employees better understand RIFs. Some questions we answer in the FAQ include: • How does a RIF work? • What can lead to a RIF? • Are employees entitled to appeal RIF separations? • What assistance must agencies provide to employees impacted by a RIF? • Are RIFs the only way agencies can reduce the size of their workforce? To find the full list of questions and answers on reductions in force, visit our FedSupport Hub here: https://lnkd.in/eqEn6pPv

Nearly every federal agency has been ordered to reduce its staff on a tight deadline. The administration's current target: The Department of Health and Human Services. Tens of thousands of federal workers have already been terminated or have accepted an earlier buyout offer. Agencies have said more layoffs are to come, as they are ordered to produced reduction in force plans this month. The savings that might come from job cuts are only a fraction of the government's overall spending. Wages and benefits for the federal workforce amount to just 4.3% of the $6.3 trillion federal budget, according to the Congressional Budget Office. At HHS, less than 1% of its spending goes to staff. There is no strategy here. What we are watching is a devaluing of expertise. That is a profound mistake. The constant threat of termination is a heavy weight. Orders from Elon Musk and DOGE have led to federal workers completing tasks far outside their job description and expertise. Workers have described a decrease in productivity as a result. The latest offer of deferred resignations will only add to the chaos. It will get worse and worse. https://lnkd.in/ecgNJwRZ

Civil servants need our support now more than ever. Federal workers are being arbitrarily purged from the federal workforce, agencies are being shuttered and vital public services are being disrupted. To safeguard the nonpartisan civil service, we need to raise public awareness about why their work matters. Help us meet this challenge by sharing your story about how federal employees have made a difference in your life or in your community. If you’re a federal employee, share how your work makes a difference: https://lnkd.in/eWgkwN4w
