📰 Storytelling is invaluable, particularly as we see more news of federal terminations coming for public interest technologists. The Impact Map - https://lnkd.in/gtTjXwh7 shows the far reaching affects for our field and beyond. We remain dedicated to telling your stories amongst it all. How has this affected you and those around you? And, how might this have affected your opinion of working in public interest tech or career advice you give to others? We'd love to hear from if you're a current or former federal employee, family member, caretaker, were affected by federal funding or hiring freezes, lost a grant or contract or your role because of this, or any other situation. 💻 Let us know: https://lnkd.in/gjcyQgK7

We’ve seen too many examples of public services gone wrong: a mother at the checkout line being told her food stamps won’t go through; families who lost their homes in the LA fires unsure of how to access housing support; faulty online appointment schedulers preventing patients from receiving care. Better public services are both necessary and possible. But to create better services, we need to improve the job infrastructure for public interest technology workers. We’ve heard from our members and experienced ourselves what it’s like working in federal, state, and local agencies, and we’re ready to advocate for your work. We’re expanding our work and will be advocating to: 1️⃣ Improve opportunities and working conditions for public interest technologists 2️⃣ Address the need for qualified technical talent in government 3️⃣ Support innovation in technical service delivery 4️⃣ Advocate for sustainable funding for the field Learn more about our advocacy work, and how you can get involved, at https://lnkd.in/enyahyFx.

📆 Join us on Wednesday, May 14th from 3-4:30pm EST for a a virtual Moth-style story slam for former federal employees. 🎤 Stories about government working for the people it serves shed light on the essential role of public servants and reinvigorate public-sector trust—things we need now more than ever. What’s more, mass firings and dismissals are bringing abrupt ends to the careers of hundreds of dedicated public servants, leaving many processing a shocking and unexpected life change. If you are a former federal employee who worked in a digital delivery role and were fired, placed on administrative leave, or otherwise dismissed since January 2025, we invite you to join our story slam centered on the theme of: 🌟 Behind the curtain: The humans of the federal government’s critical digital infrastructure. 🌟 This event will offer a space to process, reflect on, and document the ways former federal employees gave their time, skill, and care to improving critical government services for the public. If you're a former federal employee, register now ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eykKxJ7y

Congrats Abbey Kos! Grateful to have your expertise on our Board from across roles in and in support of government.
It's an honor to announce I've joined New York's Office of Customer Experience. We're partnering across agencies to reduce barriers to services, decrease wait times, and make government better for the 20 million New Yorkers we serve.
