Today marks International Day for Maternal Health and Rights and the start of Black Maternal Health Week, a time to spotlight the inequities in maternal and infant care and the continuous need for change. Created by the incredible Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA), this year’s theme is “Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy.” Black mothers face disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality and preterm birth, which are preventable with greater access to high-quality, evidence-based care. At Pomelo, we are committed to every mother having access to proper medical care and support throughout her pregnancy and postpartum period.
