Today marks International Day for Maternal Health and Rights and the start of Black Maternal Health Week, a time to spotlight the inequities in maternal and infant care and the continuous need for change. Created by the incredible Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA), this year’s theme is “Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy.” Black mothers face disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality and preterm birth, which are preventable with greater access to high-quality, evidence-based care. At Pomelo, we are committed to every mother having access to proper medical care and support throughout her pregnancy and postpartum period. 2025 has some bright spots with companies like SimpliFed and Pomelo Care changing the game for Women's Health. Silos of care are a thing of the past and in its place are solutions that offer wrap-around services, value-based care with preventative screenings and so much more. But what are solutions if they aren't scalable and reach even our hardest to reach patients? We recently sat down with Marta Bralic Kerns, Founder and CEO of Pomelo Care to chat about just that.
