Clutching His Way to MIT: How Esports Helped Sean Maniti Forge a Path to Success What do VALORANT, leadership, and MIT have in common? For Sean Maniti, they were all key to his academic and personal growth. With no prior extracurriculars, Sean joined his high school esports team, quickly rising to captain. Balancing AP coursework and esports, Sean proved that students can excel in both academics and gaming. His involvement in the Game Program Academy deepened his technical knowledge, giving him an edge in his MIT application. Now set to study Applied Mathematics at MIT, Sean’s journey highlights how structured esports programs open doors to leadership, skill-building, and higher education. His advice? “Bring an authentic passion to anything you do. When Traditional Sports and Esports Collide! 🏈 X 🎮 Organizations like the National Football League (NFL) are powering esports leagues and tournaments to engage youth audiences. By working with partners like the NFL, through the Madden NFL Youth Championship, PlayVS is creating new pathways for today's K-12 students to get involved in their communities, develop essential life skills and drive academic success. Last month, our two Madden Youth Championship finalists met in Orlando to determine who would be crowned champion at the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games. Accompanying them were Madden influencer MMG, NFL all-star Cam Hayward, and local students from Orange County Public Schools.
