We've heard of Lesotho 🇱🇸 And so have the 2 million people who call it home. But if you haven’t, or you have but don’t know much about the country, here’s a quick rundown: Lesotho is a small, mountainous country in southern Africa, known for its breathtaking landscapes, high-altitude villages, and one unique fact: it’s the only country in the world where every inch of land sits over 1,000 meters above sea level. But beyond its beauty, Lesotho faces serious challenges, including high rates of HIV and tuberculosis. Which is why, since 2006, we've been on the ground, delivering lifesaving care, training local health workers, and ensuring people get the treatment they need. So yes, people have heard of Lesotho. We just won the Skoll Foundation award for social innovation. But, what’s our innovation? To close the healthcare delivery gap, we knew we needed to do things differently. Our goal is systems change - not organisational growth or brand share. So, we reimagined the traditional aid model of fractured competition, siloed effort and wasteful resourcing. This award is a testament to years of collective action through radical collaboration which is changing guidelines, funding, and national policy. Global Health Justice reflections and action amplified at Partners In Health! As part of Global Health Justice Week, the team of PIH Rwanda visited patients in Kayonza, Kirehe, and Burera districts. We joined the communities to beautify patients’ homes and gardens, including the house of a breast cancer patient and of a TB patient on Drug Observation Therapy (DOT). The team also reflected on Paul Farmer’s legacy in Global Health Justice after watching Bending the Arc #GJHW

COPE, an Indigenous-led sister org to PIH, is working across Navajo Nation to strengthen food access and nutrition security through community-driven programs. One initiative? Demonstration gardens that provide hands-on nutrition education while honoring traditional foods. These gardens don’t just grow vegetables—they cultivate health, sustainability, and connection.
