Safe travel on Kurundi Road – A valuable reminder Members from our Barkly office recently travelled to Epenarra for the handover of two new homes. Access to the area is via Kurundi Road, south of Tennant Creek. A major storm rolled in during their return trip causing rapid flooding and cutting access to the Stuart Highway. Our team stayed put for 3 hours allowing the waters to recede to enable a safe crossing. 🚙🌧️ Floodwaters can hide many hazards and road surfaces may become unstable under the force of the water and collapse under vehicle weight. Our team followed safety protocols by waiting for conditions to improve before continuing their journey. They also checked in with their points of contact via access to a satellite phone and took plenty of snacks and water. They made the most of their time waiting for waters to recede by putting up a drone and capturing some great images of the swollen waterways over the road and our new homes in community. Before setting out on any journey by road, always check Road Report NT or the Facebook Road Report NT for real-time updates on road conditions and remember, never drive through floodwaters. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gZxh2Uqi 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gEFbWc_8 #NTRoadSafety #BarklyRegion #CheckPlanGo

As part of the ongoing remote housing program, 12 new homes are set to be built in Mutitjulu, with Blueprint (NT) Construction, an Aboriginal Enterprise, delivering the works. Our Housing and Road Safety teams took the opportunity to engage with local children in Mutitjulu about road safety, especially around active construction vehicles, with a special appearance by Hector the Road Safety Cat, our beloved road safety ambassador. Hector and the team met with the children, distributed safety-branded merchandise, and shared important messages about seatbelt use, pedestrian safety, and safe cycling practices. 😺👷 Excitement soared as a heavy loader returned to the worksite, offering a fun and educational moment for all by showing just how hard it can be to see people of all sizes from the cab. This initiative reinforced our commitment to safety and strengthened our connection with the Mutitjulu community through education and engagement. #InfrastructureNT #Roadsafety

Community collaboration is driving the success of the Katherine High School STEAM construction project. 👨🔬 The project includes a mix of upgrades to existing facilities and construction of new areas, shaping a dynamic learning environment that will inspire innovation and excellence for years to come. A special highlight is M&J Builders Pty Ltd Student Experience Initiative, where Katherine High School students gain hands-on exposure to the construction process, gaining transferable skills and real-world experience that will help them in any professional setting. We’d like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and collaboration in bringing this vision to life. Stay tuned as the project progresses, continuing to provide new opportunities for students and the community. #InfrastructureNT #KatherineHighSchool #Collaboration

Driving innovation in the Territory’s Heavy Vehicle industry 🚚 Since the 1990s, the NT has led the way in heavy vehicle innovation, using Performance Based Standards, dynamic computer simulated reporting, and on-road testing to assess the performance of innovative vehicles (road trains with up to four trailers). In February, Vehicle Standards and Compliance officers tested a 146-tonne, 51-metre quad combination on a designated route from Acacia Hills to Berrimah weighbridge. The trial assessed: ✅ tracking stability ✅ rearward amplification (snaking effect) ✅ yaw damping (ability to stop snaking) The result? A successful trial. The combination vehicle met safety standards and is now approved for NT roads. 📌 Learn more about NT heavy vehicle standards🔗 https://lnkd.in/gSrSSwp2 #Transport #Logistics #HeavyVehicles #Innovation
