Ahead of #EarthDay, we’re proud to join City of Albany, New York Mayor Kathy Sheehan in announcing the co-development of a 1.5-megawatt #solar energy project atop the capped North Albany/Shaker Park landfill.   This project, our first under NYPA’s newly launched Renewable Energy Access and Community Help (REACH) program, reflects a shared commitment to expanding clean energy access and advancing environmental justice. When complete, the solar installation will generate enough renewable power to supply more than 200 homes and is expected to eliminate nearly 22,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Importantly, this initiative will help lower energy costs for eligible low- and moderate-income residents in the Albany region.   Together, we are making meaningful progress toward a cleaner, more equitable energy future for all New Yorkers. https://lnkd.in/emhWnhrt

We recently had the privilege of joining the RETI Center’s latest cohort of clean energy trainees for an insightful day of learning and collaboration. Members of our eMobility / #EVolveNY, Environmental Justice, and NYC Government & Community Affairs teams came together to showcase NYPA’s work in the world of electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging technology.   During the workshop, we not only discussed the crucial role EVs play in advancing sustainable transportation, but also rolled up our sleeves and took the trainees through the ins and outs of an EV — giving them firsthand experience of what goes into powering the future of clean energy.    At the RETI Center, they’re empowering local youth, community members, and industry experts to ensure a future that balances equity, ecology, and economy to meet the challenges of the new climate reality.   We’re excited to continue working alongside organizations like RETI Center to create a cleaner, greener, and more equitable future for all!
