Too often asexual (or ace) folks are ignored and rendered culturally invisible, with few affirmative recognitions in law. Moreover, when asexual folks are represented in media or in discourse, offensive and outdated tropes are frequently utilized to mock and diminish the diversity of ace people and to portray them as "broken." On this International Asexuality Day 2025 the National LGBTQ+ Bar calls out this harm and celebrates our legal community members who are asexual! Your authenticity is everything! To ace allies, we welcome your taking time to learn more about asexuality so that you can support and advocate for the rights and dignity of ace individuals in your schools, workplaces, and communities. LGBTQ+ sexual violence survivors are resilient and strong. The National LGBTQ+ Bar supports you and your right to access the law and institutions as a tool for healing and recovery. Survivors are members of every identity group and live in every neighborhood in this country. Survivors are legal professionals, law students, and community members. And LGBTQ+ people have the highest rates of reported sexual violence - with markedly higher rates for transgender people and bisexual women, especially those who are BIPOC and/or disabled. And yet, governmental and state actors are attempting to erase LGBTQ+ people from existence, and are limiting LGBTQ+ people's access to courts and social supports. LGBTQ+ people deserve to live a life free from interpersonal and state violence. LGBTQ+ survivors should have access to our legal systems. LGBTQ+ survivors should have access to safe housing, healthcare, and benefits. Our collective communities will not be safe until we all are safe. 🌈 Today, on International Transgender Day of Visibility, we celebrate and uplift transgender and nonbinary individuals around the world. Visibility matters—because every story, every voice, and every journey deserves to be seen and heard. The National LGBTQ+ Bar resists the current governmental and systemic violent efforts to erase transgender and nonbinary people from our collective history, present, and future. We will continue to fight for a world that is not only inclusive, but also one which celebrates transgender and nonbinary legal professionals and community members. 💙💗🤍 #TransDayOfVisibility #TDOV #BeSeenBeHeard

We are proud to share this statement addressing the alarming declaration Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued on March 14th, 2025 purporting to void all court orders granting gender marker changes on Texas birth certificates or driver's licenses and ordering that all such previously amended documents be altered to return to their prior state. By stating that such court orders lack legal authority, Paxton displayed utter contempt for the vested liberty and property rights of affected individuals, for the separation of powers demanded by the Texas Constitution, and for his obligations as Attorney General to respect the law. Read the statement: https://lnkd.in/eayWpZwz Thank you to two of our Texas affiliates, the Dallas LGBT Bar Association and the Stonewall Association of Greater Houston, for joining us in condemning this blatant attempt to undermine the rule of law in Texas.
