It was a great week in DC, attending the National Hydropower Association’s Water Power Week, #WaterPowerWeek2025, and to join the Pennsylvania delegation to meet with our Representative and Senators from the great state of Pennsylvania. It is always an honor to have the opportunity meet with our national leaders to discuss the many benefits of Hydropower!

Thank you National Hydropower Association for hosting another great event in Washington, DC. Every conversation—whether over coffee, a panel discussion, or a hallway chat—was a reminder of how essential it is to support one another. Let’s keep the momentum going. CorPower Ocean's CEO Patrik Möller participated in the "Improving the Bankability & Readiness of Marine Energy” panel at Water Power Week 2025 in Washington D.C. led by the National Hydropower Association.   Building investor confidence is a critical step toward widespread commercialization of marine energy technologies. The session explored how standardization and certification developments can mitigate risks, improve bankability and insurability, and accelerate technology development and project deployment in the marine energy sector.    Panelists also discussed the federal government’s role in fostering collaboration, supporting the development of technical standards and certification systems, and addressing regulatory challenges to pave the way for a more robust investment environment.    “Wave energy has the potential to be a game-changer for the US to deliver firm clean power generation meeting increasing electricity demand from data centers and industry. Great to see National Renewable Energy Laboratory's excellent work, which has provided valuable tools to help advance all forms of #hydropower, being celebrated!

It was an eventful #WaterPowerWeek with the National Hydropower Association! C-Power participated in Advocacy Day with the NHA Marine Energy Council (MEC) on Capitol Hill, meeting with staff from Sen. Jeff Merkley's office and a bipartisan group of staffers representing key House and Senate energy and water subcommittees. Our message: Continued support of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Water Power Technologies Office and the critical role marine energy can play in securing America’s energy dominance. C-Power's Kristiana Terrasa helped lead the Water Power Week session Marine Energy: A Versatile Power Solution for the Ocean Economy, during which she discussed our work with the offshore #oil and #gas industry and the #Navy and the value #oceanenergy can bring to existing and new operations.

The energy-focused talk show, Energy Switch on PBS, has just released its sixth season, and it's making a splash! Malcolm Woolf and Debbie Gray of the International Hydropower Association (IHA) join host, Scott W. Tinker, PhD, for an episode dedicated entirely to water power. The conversation is wide ranging -- from an explanation of the technology to its current challenges and opportunities, and why it's critical to a 21st Century energy mix that keeps the lights on and lowers electricity costs. On the last day of NHA's #WaterPowerWeek2025, attendees were treated to a roundtable discussion at the morning plenary, led by NHA CEO & President Malcolm Woolf, with national energy reporters -- Rachel Frazin (The Hill), Nico Portuondo (E&E News), and Nick Sobczyk (Axios). The panel, which has become a #WPW favorite, offered attendees the opportunity to learn first-hand about what's going on 'behind-the-scenes' in Congress and the Trump Administration as it relates to #WaterPower's policy priorities. The morning plenary also featured Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), who accepted NHA's Legislator of the Year Award; Rep. Bonamici also used her time on the dais to push for greater support of all #WaterPower technologies, highlighting Oregon's robust #hydropower and #MarineEnergy resources. Following the plenary, #WPW2025 attendees had the opportunity to view an episode of "Energy Switch," which is a PBS show broadcasted nationally about energy trends. The episode focused entirely on #hydropower and featured Malcolm Woolf and Debbie Gray, Senior Energy Policy Manager for International Hydropower Association (IHA). The episode is now streaming online; for broadcast dates of the episode, check your local PBS station. After attending a host of sessions and panels, attendees headed back to the main ballroom for the Women in Water Power networking lunch. This panel of industry leaders shared firsthand advice on navigating career growth, overcoming challenges, and seizing new opportunities as women in our field. NHA remains committed to ensuring the water power industry looks more like the people it serves.
