Planting seedlings is a foundational part of managing forests for the long term. It keeps forests growing, supports wildlife and clean water, and ensures wood remains a renewable resource for future generations. #SustainableForestry #TreePlanting #WorkingForests #ReplantingForests #ForestryInAction #ModernAmericanForestry

About us
The National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO) is an advocacy organization committed to advancing federal policies that support the long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits of sustainably managed privately-owned forests. NAFO member companies own and manage more than 43 million acres of private working forests in 32 states. NAFO’s membership also includes state and national associations representing tens of millions of additional acres. The U.S. is a global leader in modern forestry, setting some of the highest standards for sustainable forest management in the world. Private forest owners are at the forefront of sustainable forestry in the U.S. The result is healthy and resilient forests that provide an unparalleled set of benefits to support our climate, water, wildlife, and rural communities.

The story of modern American forestry isn’t a tale of EITHER/OR. It’s about BOTH/AND. The byproducts of our working forests include clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat, job creation, and renewable products that people use every day. In modern American forestry, economic and environmental goals don’t compete. Instead, they support each other. #ModernAmericanForestry #ForestProducts

At NCASI FOUNDATION and NCASI, Inc., we're proud to be part of a groundbreaking initiative that's making a real difference for both wildlife and working forests. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) recently highlighted the Wildlife Conservation Initiative (WCI), a collaborative effort we're involved in alongside USFWS and the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO). This initiative is revolutionizing how we approach conservation on private working forests, with a focus on species listed under the Endangered Species Act and those at risk of being listed. By combining sustainable forest management practices with targeted conservation efforts, we're creating a win-win situation for both the forest sector and wildlife. Some key highlights of this work in the northeastern US include: ➡️ Strategic forest thinning to create habitat for species like the cerulean warbler ➡️ Specific projects benefiting the Diana fritillary butterfly, wood turtles, and forest songbirds ➡️ Demonstrating how working forests can support both economic needs and biodiversity At NCASI, we're committed to providing the scientific expertise and research needed to support these innovative approaches to conservation. Our work helps ensure that forest management practices are based on sound science and contribute to both economic and environmental sustainability. Learn more about how sustainable forestry practices are supporting biodiversity and the crucial role of collaboration in achieving conservation goals: https://lnkd.in/gwB9gHwi Read more about current NCASI Foundation and WCI projects here: https://lnkd.in/gVSssVNi Check out the NAFO WCI site here: https://lnkd.in/ed54fwZQ #sustainableforestry #wildlifeconservation #NCASI #USFWS #NAFO #biodiversity #workingforests

Forests are more than trees — they’re vital habitats for birds, mammals, fish, and insects. That’s why NAFO members like The Lyme Timber Company and Weyerhaeuser are taking a proactive, science-based approach to support wildlife on their lands. Through the Wildlife Conservation Initiative, NAFO members are teaming up with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and NCASI, Inc. to help at-risk species. Check out how collaborative conservation is working on the ground in this new USFWS feature 👉 https://lnkd.in/gwB9gHwi

According to the U.S. Forest Service, total forest acreage has been stable since the 1950s and forest volume has increased 60% – despite population growth, record commercial and urban development, and unprecedented forest fires. Today, the U.S. enjoys some of the most abundant and productive resources in the world. That’s the impact of sustainable forest management in America. #ModernAmericanForestry #ForestProducts
