  • Behind every safe Metrolink journey, there’s a powerful system—and a dedicated team—working tirelessly to protect our riders, crew, and communities. As the Executive Assistant for the PTC, Train Control & Communications Department, Lillian Martinez has the privilege of contributing to the meticulous coordination and behind-the-scenes efforts that keep our system running safely and smoothly. PTC is more than just technology—it’s a critical safeguard that monitors train speed, direction, and location, preventing collisions, overspeed derailments, and unauthorized movements. Metrolink is the first passenger rail to operate Positive Train Control (PTC) technology across our entire network. We’re proud to have people like Lillian as part of the Metrolink team committed to safety, innovation, and service. #RailSafety #PositiveTrainControl #PTC #TrainControl #WomenInRail

  • As a Rail Traffic Controller, Barbara King feels empowered in her role because she is proud to break barriers as a woman in the railroad industry. She has over a decade of railroad experience in both freight and commuter rail systems. At Metrolink, Barbara safely moves passengers, many of whom rely on public transit for mobility. “It’s an amazing opportunity to provide this service and do it safely on a daily basis,” Barbara says.

  • This week, Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle and Senior Manager of Government Relations, Anna Denecke were in Washington, D.C., championing the future of Southern California’s rail network. In meetings with Senator Alex Padilla, key California Representatives, and senior officials from the Federal Railroad Administration and House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, they reinforced the critical role of federal partnerships in expanding and modernizing Metrolink—especially as we prepare for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Securing funding for capital improvements and operations is essential to delivering a world-class, sustainable, and connected transit system for our region. Thank you to our federal partners for their continued support in keeping Southern California moving!
