Electro-Ceramic Desalination for Harsh Industrial Wastewater Treatment
About us
Membrion manufactures ceramic desalination membranes that can recover up to 98% of water in the harshest conditions. Membrion’s flexible, electro-ceramic desalination membranes yield endless possibilities for water recovery, allowing manufacturers to recycle water at previously inaccessible pH ranges and with challenging trace chemicals. The membranes that Membrion creates are low fouling, require less cleaning, are oxidizer resistant, have ultra-low pH stability, and are economical.

In case you haven't heard, Membrion is shortlisted for Breakthrough Technology Company of the year! We're honored to be a finalist for this year's Global Water Awards, recognized for our ECD technology, helping industries tackle their toughest wastewater challenges while achieving circularity and resource recovery. A huge thank you to the Global Water Summit and Global Water Intelligence (GWI)! Check out more details below👇 #WorthEveryDrop #VoteNow #WorkForWater #GWS2025 #WaterAction
Congratulations to Membrion, Inc. for making the shortlist for Breakthrough Technology Company of the Year 2025.🏆 They’re nominated for the Global Water Awards, held on May 13th, thanks to their game-changing breakthrough in industrial wastewater treatment. In 2024, this US-based start-up developing electro-ceramic desalination (ECD) secured two commercial installations treating highly acidic wastewater, along with a multi-site off-take agreement with Colgate Palmolive and nine additional projects in commercial contracting. Membrion's mechanically stable membranes bring a compelling treatment proposition for industries with acidic metal-laden wastewater typically requiring costly off-site disposal. At a site treating concentrated copper wastewater, their system dramatically reduced trucking volumes, achieving 75% water recovery while concentrating copper to economically viable levels for re-use. ECD is also proving key to making expensive zero liquid discharge affordable for industries with challenging wastewater. At a metal plating facility in Mexico, Membrion's system achieved over 90% water recovery, reducing downstream evaporator size, and eliminating the need for chemical precipitation. With industrial water circularity rising up the agenda, Membrion's hydrophilic membranes are positioned to help multiple industries meet reuse goals. A pilot at Colgate's Ohio facility improved recovery from BWRO concentrate from 60% to 93%, outperforming numerous advanced RO technologies. Which new tech do you think was the most innovative in 2025? Join the GWI community to have your say in the #GlobalWaterAwards, with voting soon to open. The worthy winners will be announced in Paris in May, at the #GWS2025 dinner. #WaterTechnology #wastewater #industrial
