If you're interested in the issues surrounding federal research funding and the future of innovation, don't miss this webinar on May 1st! Hear from several thought leaders including MassVentures' own Managing Director Vinit Nijhawan (he/him). Registration details below👇
WEBINAR: Join us on May 1, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 PM ET for a timely Bayh-Dole Coalition webinar examining a critical question: "Should the Federal Government Fund Basic Research?" Eighty years ago, Dr. Vannevar Bush advised President Roosevelt to invest in basic research, planting the seeds for the U.S. innovation ecosystem we know today. But in an era of rising deficits and shifting priorities, questions are being asked about the benefits of this investment. Our program will discuss the impact of Vannevar Bush's recommendations and whether his vision holds true today. We'll consider what role the government should play in funding research in the 21st Century and what return on investment hard-pressed taxpayers should expect as a result. We'll also discuss how we can "recapture the urgency which propelled us so far in the last century," as President Trump recently asked of Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Moderated by Joseph Allen, executive director of The Bayh-Dole Coalition, the conversation will feature a panel of distinguished experts: - Laura Peter, executive director of the Office of Research and Commercialization at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte - Brian P. O'Shaughnessy, board chair of the Bayh-Dole Coalition - Vinit Nijhawan (he/him), managing director of MassVentures Don’t miss this critical conversation about the future of American innovation. If you're 1 of the 6,000 MA-based manufacturers, we want to hear from you! The Massachusetts Tariff Response and Business Operations Support Initiative (MA TRBO) has been established in response to the ongoing uncertainty and rapid changes surrounding U.S. federal tariffs, which continue to impact manufacturers across industries. As businesses face rising costs, supply chain disruptions, and sourcing challenges, MA TRBO aims to align state support and resources to help manufacturers navigate these dynamic conditions and strengthen the resilience of local manufacturers.
