MassVentures portfolio company Adden Energy is developing dynamically stable solid-state batteries to accelerate the electrification of transportation. Spun out of Harvard University, the company’s mission is to render combustion engines obsolete by enabling EVs to surpass gas-powered cars in every consumer-facing dimension. Adden Energy’s breakthrough battery technology features a self-healing solid-state separator and a porous lithium metal anode, enabling ultra-fast charging, improved energy density, and enhanced safety—key innovations necessary for widespread EV adoption. Since its founding, Adden Energy has achieved significant milestones, including demonstrating a prototype with unprecedented charging speed and cycle life, securing industry partnerships, and raising both Seed and Series A funding to scale development. The company is now focused on transitioning its technology from lab-scale validation to pilot production, a critical step toward commercialization. MassVentures has been a valuable partner in Adden Energy’s journey, providing early-stage funding and strategic support to help advance the company’s technology and accelerate its growth. With MassVentures’ backing, Adden Energy has strengthened its technical foundation and built momentum toward bringing its solid-state battery technology to market.
