🔊 Open Africa Power 2025: Call for applications Enel Foundation is excited to launch the 2025 edition of #OpenAfricaPower in collaboration with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). The programme provides a cohort of young energy professionals with a complete set of technical, regulatory and business skills needed to trigger Africa sustainable energy future for all. 💡🔋 This year, the programme will engage up to 80 African students, with at least 50% women, and almost 500 Alumni in partnership with top academic institutions in Africa and Italy. Open Africa Power is reaching the seventh edition, to testify the long-standing commitment to develop a solid framework in the realm of training and capacity building focused on Africa. 🆕 LEAP-SE First results are in! The first stage of the LEAP-SE Call for projects closed on 27 March with an exciting milestone: 172 pre-proposals submitted from across Europe, HE-associated countries, and Africa! We’re proud to see strong collaboration between our two continents with 34% of proposals coordinated in Africa and 66% from Europe and EU-associated countries, a clear reflection of our joint commitment to sustainable energy research 🌍. In total, 1,160 partners participated in the pre-proposal phase, representing 40 countries, 12 from Europe and HE-associated countries (including 8 participating to the call) and 28 (including 6 participating countries to the call) from Africa. Projects cover key areas such as: 🔋 Smart energy systems 🍃Integration of renewable energy 🔥 Clean cooking ❄️Cold chains 🧪Green hydrogen, and more! 📊 Stay tuned. 👏 Many thanks to the European Union Delegation in Uganda for welcoming us this morning to present the LEAP-RE programme. 👉 The Information Session focused on the European Union Research and Innovation programme #HorizonEurope, including the participation of Uganda-based entities in ongoing projects, as well as a presentation of the main prospects for the Horizon Europe program in 2025. 💡 We were able to showcase Uganda's participation rates in the LEAP-RE programme and look forward to collaborating with new Ugandan players on #sustainableenergy #research and #innovation projects.

🌍 We’re proud to share that LEAP-RE attended the Eleventh Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (#ARFSD-11), held from 9-11 April 2025 at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala, Uganda. ARFSD-11's focus was on "Driving job creation and economic growth through sustainable, inclusive, science and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063." LEAP-RE was honored to participate in the Seventh African Science, Technology, and Innovation Forum in Kampala, Uganda! ⭐This year marks the 15th anniversary of the African Union-European Union High-Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology, and Innovation, providing a significant opportunity to reflect on our collaborative achievements. During #STIF2025, LEAP-RE showcased its commitment to fostering innovation and research partnerships between Africa and Europe. We highlighted the success of our third call for projects, which concluded last week, and expressed our hope to welcome new member states, particularly from Africa, to join our initiative. In parallel, LEAP-RE took part in the inauguration of the Energy Access Investment Forum, organised by the Alliance for Rural Electrification.
