Updates

  • Update from FDOT on the Lake Avenue Bascule Bridge.... On March 5, 2025, the eastbound State Road (SR) 802 Lake Avenue Bascule Bridge over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in Lake Worth Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, experienced a mechanical issue which has rendered the bridge temporarily inoperable. The input shaft, which transfers rotational drive to the gearbox during the opening and closing sequence of the bridge must be replaced. The bridge functionality cannot be restored until a new input shaft is installed. Machining Fabrication of a replacement input shaft is currently ongoing in an FDOT approved machine shop in Florida. Two-way vehicular traffic is flowing over the westbound bridge, one lane in each direction. The eastbound bridge re-opening is anticipated to occur within the next 1 to 2 weeks, after the new part has been installed and tested.
