Today marks a major milestone in our journey to reimagine and expand the Kentucky Exposition Center. Demolition has officially begun on Newmarket Hall and will pave the way for Phase I of our expansion and renovation project. What a cool look-back through our history! While the They’re Off! Luncheon got its start at Kentucky Venues, we’re still a proud part of the Kentucky Derby Festival fun today through the Samtec Inc Great Bed Races coming up April 28th in Broadbent Arena!
Festival Fact Friday💡 Did you know the They’re Off! Luncheon Presented by BAE Systems is the second-oldest event on the #KyDerbyFestival schedule? 🤔 It was first held in 1957 at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds (now Kentucky Venues). It featured award recipients and a $5 buffet line open to the public. 🏆 🍽️ In the 1970s, the luncheon moved to an under-construction Galt House Hotel, and has been held there ever since.
