Today marks a major milestone in our journey to reimagine and expand the Kentucky Exposition Center. Demolition has officially begun on Newmarket Hall and will pave the way for Phase I of our expansion and renovation project. Under the Kentucky Venues brand of venues, events, entertainment and agriculture, two major convention and exhibition facilities — the Kentucky Exposition Center and the Kentucky International Convention Center — serve regional, national and international clients. Its governing body, the Kentucky State Fair Board, also produces the Kentucky State Fair, National Farm Machinery Show, North American International Livestock Exposition, Championship Tractor Pull, World’s Championship Horse Show and North American Championship Rodeo.

What a cool look-back through our history! While the They’re Off! Luncheon got its start at Kentucky Venues, we’re still a proud part of the Kentucky Derby Festival fun today through the Samtec Inc Great Bed Races coming up April 28th in Broadbent Arena!
Festival Fact Friday💡 Did you know the They’re Off! Luncheon Presented by BAE Systems is the second-oldest event on the #KyDerbyFestival schedule? 🤔 It was first held in 1957 at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds (now Kentucky Venues). It featured award recipients and a $5 buffet line open to the public. 🏆 🍽️ In the 1970s, the luncheon moved to an under-construction Galt House Hotel, and has been held there ever since.
