In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, we want to take this time to call out the contributions and accomplishments of women world-wide. Whether it be politics and activism, science, technology, organizational leadership, sports, or the arts; the advocacy and achievements of women hold immense significance and power as we strive for equality. InVision is proud to be a women-founded and women-led organization. From our women in leadership to the women who embody our direct support staff, InVision is incredibly grateful for all the women who make what we do as an organization possible. This month, and every month after, let’s recognize and celebrate the women of our lives, and around the world! Black history is not only important in February; it is a critical part of our history as a nation. While February comes to an end, InVision is dedicated to honoring Black history in all that we do. This February and beyond, we ask our personnel, our friends, our loved ones, and others we have reached to continue engaging in conversations about Black history. To continue to honor, share, and learn from Black experiences; and to continue amplifying Black voices. With recent updates to our organization’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy and procedures, we are reaffirming our commitment to DEI initiatives. InVision is an organization that embraces differences – regardless of your race, gender identification, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, or where you were born. We see you; we hear you; we recognize you, and we welcome you – now and always.

Congressional leaders are discussing proposals that could significantly reduce Medicaid funding. These cuts would have devastating consequences for the people we support at InVision – and those who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) across the country – potentially stripping away access to vital services that support people with disabilities to remain in their communities. Real people’s dignity, independence and well-being are at stake. Tell your Senators and Representatives to reject Medicaid cuts and protect services for people with I/DD. Medicaid funding supports individuals with I/DD in achieving independence, improving their quality of life, and reducing reliance on institutional care. People who experience disabilities are valued community members, colleagues, friends, and loved ones. Many are active in church. Many enjoy gardening, cooking, and travel. Many desire to have a successful career, a supportive workplace, as well as learning and growth opportunities. Many are talented artists, singers, and musicians. Medicaid funding supports necessary programs and services that encourage the I/DD community to discover what is meaningful to them and live the life they envision for themselves. Learn more about how Medicaid funding supports community-based services for people who experience I/DD via ANCOR's website: ancor.org/medicaid. #SaveMedicaid

Medicaid operates as a partnership between states and the federal government to fund crucial health care services. When federal Medicaid funding is reduced, states must find new funding to balance the shortfall in state budgets. If new funding cannot be found, community-based services for people with I/DD are often reduced, leading to longer waitlists for HCBS and higher rates of unnecessary institutionalization. To keep the promise of community living for people with I/DD a reality, we must invest in—not divest from—the Medicaid program. Join us in writing to members of Congress urging the opposition of Medicaid budget cuts. It only takes a few minutes to share your voice through ANCOR's advocacy resources. InVision Human Services is a proud provider of residential, community-based, and employment supports programs for people who experience disabilities. Our mission is to build person-centered services for the people we support in their pursuit of meaningful lives; with a vision of a future where all people are heard, their choices valued, and their life visions honored. Community providers support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) with a broad array of services from building skills in the home, such as eating, dressing, and personal hygiene, to career planning and employment supports to find and maintain jobs. These community-based services are funded almost exclusively through Medicaid. Congressional leaders are discussing proposals that could significantly reduce Medicaid funding. These cuts would have devastating consequences for people with I/DD. Please join us in the fight to #SaveMedicaid to ensure the people we support – and those supported by human services organizations across the country – have access to necessary supports and programs, and their rights are protected. The time for advocacy is now. Take action today against proposed Medicaid cuts: ancor.org/amplifier. #SaveMedicaid ANCOR

In Michelle Obama’s memoir, Becoming, she wrote: “If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s the power of using your voice.” Amid a time that feels uncertain, InVision wants to remind our staff, the people we support, and others of the power we hold in our advocacy efforts, and the importance of listening to and learning from the voices of others. Together, our voices will be heard. Join us in continued learning and support of Black History Month, Black voices, and Black authors – whether it be stopping by your local library or bookstore, listening to an audiobook or podcast, or connecting with a friend. InVision is honoring Black History Month by sharpening our knowledge, staying informed, and sharing our voice to support advocacy efforts. As such, we want to take this time to highlight the efforts of Black-led organizations and nonprofits working to raise awareness and provide supportive programs surrounding racial equality and social justice.
