❌ Three-day offsites aren’t the answer for senior leader skills development — neither is one-size-fits-all content. If you’re designing development programs for senior leaders the way you’ve always done it, it might be time for a rethink. In our recent senior leader webinar, Rea Rotholz, Senior Director of Learning Solutions at Hone, shared a blunt truth: 🎯 These leaders don’t just need “training.” They need relevance, efficiency, and challenge. Here’s what actually matters when building programs for directors, VPs, and future C-suite leaders: 🧩 Flexibility over formality Is pulling your execs offline for three days the best move? Maybe. But often, what they need is timely, bite-sized support — delivered when it counts most. 🎯 Tailored, not templated Senior leaders won’t engage with generic content. They want learning that feels personal and applies right now, not someday. 🤝 Peer learning is your secret weapon It’s not just “nice to have” networking. Leaders who engage in peer-based learning are 18% more likely to grow into enterprise-level roles. That’s not a small stat — that’s a succession strategy. 🛠 Real tools, real application Awareness is not impact. If your learning can’t be applied to real business problems immediately, you’re not building skills — you’re checking a box. 🎙 Elite facilitation only This crowd asks tough questions and expects high value. You need facilitators who can handle challenge, push back confidently, and harness their experience to drive deeper learning. 👀 If you're not designing with these truths in mind, you may be building great programs… for the wrong audience. 📺 Want the full conversation? Senior leadership development needs a rethink. 👇 As Tom Griffiths put it in our recent senior leader webinar: We're living through an era of relentless disruption — from AI acceleration to economic uncertainty. And the reality is, leadership is the linchpin for how well organizations navigate change. Yet the data is stark: 🔹 Only 50% of organizations feel well-prepared to anticipate disruption. (McKinsey) 🔹 Leaders are 56% more likely to face disruptive challenges than individual contributors. (Gallup) 🔹 70% of employees say their managers fail to adapt to change effectively. (Catalyst) So what’s going wrong? Despite high investment, there’s a troubling disconnect: ✅ Only 36% of HR leaders believe their leadership development programs are preparing leaders for the future. (Gartner) ✅ And just 23% are confident their rising leaders are ready for what’s next. These are the very people — directors, VPs, SVPs — who appear on succession plans. (Gartner) 💡 The takeaway? It’s not about spending more. It’s about spending smarter. We need to rethink how we support senior leaders with high-impact, relevant, and adaptive development experiences. Let’s equip them to lead with vision, resilience, and emotional intelligence through change — because our future depends on it. Check out the rest of the on-demand webinar: https://lnkd.in/gm_p2NnY

💸 Want your L&D budget approved? Speak fluent business. It’s not enough to know that "soft skills" matter. You have to prove it — in the language your execs understand: 📈 ROI 📉 Risk 🎯 Strategic impact As Jeff Diana (former Chief People Officer at Calendly, Atlassian, and SuccessFactors) puts it: 👉 “We have to package and sell things around short-term business goals... while we plant seeds for the long term.” Translation: Tie your leadership training to employee retention. Link your project management courses to project efficiency. Map every skill to a business objective and a core value. Christian Seale, HR Director at Fortis Franchise Group, did exactly that: ✅ Aligned training to critical skills ✅ Connected those skills to company strategy ✅ Used real employee data to tell the story The result? A business case no one could ignore. The cost of inaction is too high. Make your case impossible to say no to. 👇 Check out more tips from industry experts in The L&D Playbook for Soft Skills Development, and build your own case for universal skills training. https://lnkd.in/gyH_W3m8

"I know I should be using AI to grow my skills… I just don’t know where to start." 👇 We hear this all the time. Because the truth is — most professionals aren’t struggling with motivation. They’re struggling with method. That’s why we’re doing something different. We’re opening up one of our private Hone masterclasses to the public on April 10 — and bringing in Nicolle Merrill, founder of Boring AI, who’s been on the front lines of AI transformation in the workplace. She’ll teach you how to: 🧠 Make AI your learning partner 💬 Write better prompts (without sounding like a robot) ⚙️ Build learning into your everyday workflow No jargon. No technical barrier. Just real, practical tools to help you learn faster — and lead smarter. Curious? Come see what a Hone masterclass feels like. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gwtakgVu

We say “people leave managers, not companies.” So why aren’t we doing more to support them? Gianna Driver has some insights to share. 👇 Most managers are drowning — not because they’re unskilled, but because they’re stretched too thin and deprioritize their own growth. As Gianna put it: "My experience has shown that a lot of times managers are not prioritizing their own growth and development, right? It’s, ‘Oh, it’s quarter end, it’s year end. There’s this new release. There’s some other reason why I’m unable to read this thing, attend this session, travel to this place.’" And when development keeps getting pushed aside, the consequences add up. 🔹 75% of HR leaders say managers are overloaded 🔹 72% say they’re not equipped to handle change 🔹 Nearly half report more complex roles than ever We expect managers to drive performance, culture, retention — yet we fail to set them up for success. That’s the disconnect. And it’s costing us. 👉 Read the full article to learn how to fix it: https://lnkd.in/ga4egWmZ
