The first glass panels of the Mark Rothko Pavilion were installed in January, marking a major milestone in the campus transformation at the Portland Art Museum. The pavilion, which Hennebery Eddy designed in collaboration with Vinci | Hamp Architects, will connect the museum's two historic buildings and create new community and exhibition spaces.

This month, David Wark, Carin Carlson, and Tim Mitchell from our Historic Resources Group conducted a two-day workshop in Denver on sustainable preservation for the National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Training Center. The hands-on workshop explored best practices and design sequencing for integrating sustainability into rehabilitation projects. Together with 20+ parks managers, cultural resources, and facilities staff, we demonstrated approaches to balancing functionality, health/safety, energy efficiency, and resiliency with preservation of building character and material integrity. Thanks to the NPS Historic Preservation Training Center and attendees for having us, we love working with you to help steward our national parks!

Rehabilitation of the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse kicked off earlier this month, beginning with the cast-iron lantern. The “cherry on top” was lifted from the historic structure and transported to a shop for restoration, along with the historic windows. The rest of the structure will be restored on-site. Hennebery Eddy’s historic preservationists are working with Oregon Parks And Recreation Department to bring this 1871 Oregon coast jewel back to its former glory. Thanks to the entire team for their diligent efforts in ensuring Newport's oldest remaining structure will stand for future generations.

Hennebery Eddy and collaborating design partner Lake|Flato Architects have designed the first mass timber structure managed by the State of Montana. Home to the Montana State University-Bozeman School of Computing, Gianforte Hall is designed to encourage collaboration between disciplines and departments, welcoming a diverse student body and heightening MSU’s reputation as a national leader in computing. This award program recognizes outstanding architecture from American designers. Congratulations to principal and historical architect Carin Carlson, AIA, APT RP, LEED, who has been named an APT Recognized Professional by The Association for Preservation Technology International (APT). This recognition honors her two decades of expertise in historic preservation, including her revitalization of sites across the West and her work with federal and state agencies, private developers, and nonprofits.
