About us
Together, we help you write the next chapter of your life. Group Therapy Associates is a private psychotherapy practice that believes in the power of therapy to help every person show up more fully for their lives and their communities. Led by our CEO and founder, Esther Boykin, LMFT, our work is built on three core principles - stay curious, honor emotions, act with intention. We help people who aren't sure if therapy was designed for them find an approach to mental health care that honors all the facets of who they are and helps them combine knowledge and self-awareness into choices that cultivate a more purposeful and fulfilling life. You’ll find creative and compassionate professionals who are committed to helping you reach your goals. We offer individual, couples, and family counseling, and groups for kids and adults. Outside the office and off the couch, we host relationship and mental health events, bridging the gap between licensed therapists and the public.

Both/And It’s a concept that we talk of often as therapists. The reminder that multiple things can be true at the same time. Something that is often hard for us to hold emotionally. This is a moment of Both/And. I am proud beyond measure of Group Therapy Associates and the work we have done in our communities over the last 16+ years. And I am heartbroken that the financial burden of our insurance system and unexpected curveballs of life and business have led to this moment of ending. Both/And It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of GTA effective January 31. It is a difficult decision that has taken nearly a year to make. It is also one that I am confident will allow my employees and myself to thrive and expand in the years to come. For more than 16 years GTA has been dedicated to providing culturally attuned and accessible mental health care. We have served more than 3,500 clients and held more than 50,000 therapy sessions. The therapists and staff we have had over the years are amazing people and incredible professionals and I am so proud of them. I am deeply honored by all of the individuals, couples, families, and organizations who trusted us with their care. You all are amazing and your messages this month are deeply appreciated. So what comes next? I will continue to see clients as a solopreneur for right now as will many of our staff. You can check our website for referral lists and future updates. I am also available for speaking engagements, consulting projects, and executive coaching. I’m excited about the new ways I will be working in 2025 and beyond. And I will also be focused on rest and recovery. I hope to model for my team and all of you the value of allowing one chapter to fully close and resting in that process before diving into the next thing whenever possible. We have worked hard to be a place of comfort, care, and compassion for thousands of people. It is a time for us to also be cared for and comforted. Grief and goodbyes. Opportunities and expansion. An era ends… a new one is just beginning. Both/And

I’ve been quiet lately, particularly since last week, thinking a lot about how we can create more ease in life. The basic care we all deserve shouldn’t feel this hard to get and maintain. I don’t have the solutions (yet! 😉) but I feel good about offering some small ways to help. Check out our mental health check up and reset packages at https://lnkd.in/eyzkTY39 And stay tuned for more conversations on how we can create ease in practical and sustainable ways.
