The forum served as a crucial platform for high-level strategic dialogue. Invaluable insights were shared by key international representatives, offering global perspectives and reaffirming robust international support for Ukraine's EIP development and green recovery. Contributions from Christian Susan and Cesar Barahona of UNIDO, Jean-Luc Bernasconi from the Swiss embassy, were particularly pertinent, highlighting international best practices and collaborative frameworks. This support is clear via Global Eco-Industrial Park Programme. UNIDO's Anton Kleshchov effectively coordinates local implementation and notably presented impressive results from the project's first phase alongside future plans. Profound gratitude to Switzerland (SECO Economic Cooperation and Development ) for their instrumental investment and partnership driving sustainable development through GEIPP. The event proved invaluable for fostering strategic alliances through direct engagement between international experts, program leaders, and diverse national stakeholders essential for EIP implementation. EIPs are critical for Ukraine's sustainable reconstruction. Their adaptability, potentially including leveraging aquatic ecosystems, shows promise. Last week in Cairo, the closing event of the project "Global Eco-Industrial Park Programme in Egypt" highlighted achievements made with interventions from the Egyptian Ministry of Industry, the Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt, key stakeholders as well as national and international experts. Beyond numbers, the most striking impact of the project is the high demand for further support from #privatesector park owners and/or developers. This is very positive and much needed given the high concentration of resources (energy, materials and water) processed in industrial parks. Increasing #resourceefficiency and #circularity in industrial areas makes sense economically, environmentally and socially! Congratulations to the UNIDO project team and to our counterparts for having such an impact over a short period of time! 🇺🇳🇪🇬🇨🇭This was the final event of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme in Egypt. UNIDO and Egyptian Ministry of Industry organized the final event of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme in Egypt (GEIP Egypt). 👏🏼The event highlighted the programme’s key outcomes, including the promotion and mainstreaming of the Eco-Industrial Parks (EIP) approach in policies, identifying opportunities for their establishment, and initiating implementation to balance industrial development with environmental preservation while creating new economic opportunities. The GEIPP-Egypt project is funded by the Switzerland SECO Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by UNIDO in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry. It demonstrated the feasibility and benefits of eco-industrial parks in enhancing resource productivity and improving the economic, environmental, and social performance of industries. The project has been implemented in three industrial zones in Egypt: Orascom Industrial Park, Polaris Industrial Park, and the Robbiki Leather Cluster. Key stakeholders also included the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Industrial Development Authority, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones. 🌟 We celebrate the achievements of 2024 in Colombia: Thank you for being part of it! 🌟 This year, the Eco-Industrial Parks Program in Colombia reached milestones that mark a before and after in industrial sustainability: - We identified more than 140 opportunities for improvement in industrial parks, enhancing their economic, social and environmental efficiency. - We project a sustainable performance of up to 88% by 2028 thanks to actions implemented this year. - We trained 25 consultants and strengthened key strategic alliances. - We developed the Conformity Manual for the Colombian Technical Standard PEI, consolidating Colombia as a global benchmark in industrial sustainability. 🌟 On behalf of the PEI Colombia team, we wish you a happy holiday season and a new year full of success, sustainability and hope.
