✨ Announcement of the Formation of Wage Employment Committees in Luxor and Qena 🌿🌍 As part of the IGGE final networking event, a major step was taken toward empowering the local labor market— 👉 the official formation of Wage Employment Committees (WECs) in Luxor and Qena! Great meeting with Subhagata Mukherjee, Vice President, Global Head of Sustainability, Nokia. We visited Nokia’s refurbishment center for mobile telecommunications network equipment at DSV - Global Transport and Logistics in Cairo, initiated as part of the UNIDO Switch to Circular Economy Value Chains program, which supports corporates to accelerate their circularity efforts. The European Commission funded SWITCH2CE initiative is co-funded by the government of Finland - Embassy of Finland in Cairo. Looking forward to strengthening the Nokia partnership in India, Saudi Arabia and Morocco.

𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗔 building technical foundations for industrial policymaking in Egypt The #EuropeanUnion support to trade, industry, growth and rapid market access 𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗔 project, implemented by UNIDO Egypt in cooperation with the Government of Egypt, delivered its first technical training workshop for the Policy Support Unit (PSU) of the Ministry of Industry on industrial policy. Hosted in Cairo on 14-16 April 2025, the session brought together key staff from the ministry’s Central Department of Strategic Management, the core group tasked with supporting the development and implementation of Egypt’s industrial policy, and participants from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, Industrial Development Authority (IDA), Industrial Modernization Centre, IMC, Egypt , @Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDAEG), and National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD). Mr. Christoph Hammer, Industrial Policy Analyst at UNIDO, led the workshop, which introduced foundational concepts, instruments, and approaches to industrial policymaking. The interactive format encouraged dialogue on national policy experiences, institutional roles, and potential areas for future capacity development. The training sessions covered: • Relevant historic, theoretical and political concepts • Data and approaches to analysis and monitoring (including the EQuIP toolkit) • Policy instruments used by industrial policymakers • Institutions and capacities needed to plan and implement industrial policies. By the end of the training, the participants had developed a shared understanding of key principles and concepts in the field of industrial policy. They gained familiarity with diagnostic tools and evidence-based approaches to policymaking, and greater clarity on the institutional arrangements and capacities required to deliver effective and inclusive industrial policies. This training represents an important step in strengthening the PSU’s technical knowledge under the 𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗔 project. By supporting Egypt’s policymaking institutions, 𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗔 contributes to a more coherent, inclusive, and forward-looking industrial policy framework. The European Union support to trade, industry, growth and rapid market access (𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗔) is a project funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO / UNIDO Egypt) in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation, Ministry of Industry, and Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade. At the final networking event of the Inclusive Green Growth Project in Egypt, certificates of appreciation were awarded to Employment Service Providers and employers in Qena and Luxor in recognition of their efforts in boosting employment in green sectors. Key Achievements 📊: • 307 jobs and internships provided in the green economy, with 48% women participation. 👩💼 • 2,209 job seekers benefited from the Job Preparation Training Program, with 74% women participation 👩💼, preparing them for the labor market. 💪✨ The certificates were presented by: • H.E. Dr. Khaled Abdel Hamid, Governor of Qena • H.E. During my recent visit to Rome, I had the chance to meet with Paolo Lombardo. International Cooperation and Development Finance Director, CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. We had a fruitful discussion regarding financing of UNIDO's  “Advancing Climate-Resilience and Transformation in African Coffee” (ACT) programme. The ACT Coffee initiative aims to support African coffee-producing countries in achieving a structural transformation of the coffee value chain, advancing socio-economic sustainability and climate resilience through ad hoc technical assistance, strategic partnerships and leveraging of financial resources. 🌐 UNIDO Morocco was pleased to partner with Agence de Développement du Digital-ADD for the Digital Talks on “AI for Industry: Best Practices and Use Cases,” held at GITEX AFRICA 2025 in Marrakech. Facilitated by Sanae Lahlou, UNIDO Representative in Morocco, the discussion focused on how Artificial Intelligence is transforming Industry 4.0 across Moroccan industries, boosting productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability.
