Throwback Thursday! In celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year, we are sharing some photos of our early construction on the Housing building, which was the former St. Gerard's School building, and also a photo of the groundbreaking. We converted the classrooms to fourteen apartments, plus added a community room with a kitchen and offices for staff. A realized dream!

Be a tutor and change a life! Gerard Place is in need of volunteer math tutors for our Adult Literacy Program. We will provide training and all the materials you will need to help an adult learner earn their high school equivalency diploma. Tutoring is one-on-one. 💫 We want to introduce you to one of our original "Dreamers" as we continue to share stories in our 25th anniversary year. Sr. Pauline is one of the founders of Gerard Place, often referred to as the “dreamers.” These dreamers, sisters from twelve Congregations of Women Religious in the Diocese of Buffalo, created Gerard Place to house homeless women and their children on the East Side of Buffalo. She has stayed active volunteering in many ways since we opened in 2000. We encourage you to click to read more about this incredible woman and her impact on our organization and community.

Gerard Place is honored to have received a Health Equity Innovation Award from Univera Healthcare in partnership with the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York to support our Healthy Mom & Baby Program with Pre/Post Natal Care and Support! Congrats to all the recipients doing important work in our community.

A big thank you to West Herr Automotive Group for donating 45 frozen turkeys and bags of side items to Gerard Place. This generous donation will help our Gerard Place families plus struggling seniors and families in the neighborhood. We appreciate the support we receive from local businesses like West Herr!

Members of the Gerard Place team & board gathered to celebrate all of the inspirational generosity in our community at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon hosted by the Western New York Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) Professionals (AFP). It was wonderful to see so many deserving people and organizations honored for their impact in Western New York.

Did you know that Gerard Place offers a NEDP Program (National External Diploma Program)? NEDP is a competency-based pathway for adults seeking a high school diploma, available in nine states across the nation. Gerard Place was proud to be a part of the recent NEDP National Conference in Niagara Falls, NY. Our Literacy Coordinator, Amanda Hibbard, and Literacy Assistant, Sheila Herrmann, attended along with our recent NEDP graduates, Lynne Patterson and Latisha Jones.
