About us

FedsForward is committed to helping our talented civil servants continue their service to the nation by moving forward into mission-driven careers across all sectors of the economy. Staunchly non-partisan, FedsForward's sole focus is to enable mission-driven individuals to make an impact in for-profit, non-profit and governmental organizations.   We will begin by providing tactical resources to support civil servants as they seek employment outside of the Federal government.  As we evolve, we will provide tools and services to create a community of civic-minded people who make a difference both in and out of the federal government.

  • Last week, we launched FedsForward to help our talented civil servants continue their service to the nation by moving forward into mission-driven careers across all sectors of the economy. We are thrilled to be able to launch this new service, in partnership with many organizations and individuals in the community, to support Federal Workers as they explore new career pathways outside the federal government.  As we begin to expand the services, resources and tools available to federal workers, we want to hear from you what is in greatest need. If you have 5-minutes, please give us your thoughts via this survey: https://lnkd.in/em2eiyvn We also want to partner with other organizations, working together to meet the needs of our federal workers. If you would be interested in partnering with us, please respond to fedsforward@gmail.com. Together, let’s climb. Feds forward 👉 Visit us at www.fedsforward.org

  • Great research by the New York Times with maps showing where civil servants work across the country, by agency and location. Federal workers are residents of thousands of cities and small towns across America where they serve their communities. As they leave the federal government, they carry with them deep expertise and networks that are hard to obtain outside of government. If you are looking to hire, it is hard to find a more talented group of people. https://lnkd.in/enYxf42d

  • 📣 ANNOUNCING NEW RESOURCE! 📣 As more federal workers enter the job market, this new Playbook - the Career Navigator - breaks down the intimidating career transition process into manageable steps, giving you both the strategy and the tactical tools needed for a successful transition. Each section contains practical worksheets and templates designed to help you translate your government experience into terms that private employers will value. Featuring original FedsForward tools and resources developed by leading organizations, this guide walks beside you through every stage of your journey. https://lnkd.in/ePsQjrEY

  • Thanks for creating this excellent resource to put some data behind what we have heard through conversations with the federal family - that public service is a calling and federal workers will continue to serve the nation even outside the federal government.

Executive Director @ Work for America

This morning, Work for America launched “Ready to Serve”—a first-of-its-kind survey capturing the voices of 6,000+ federal workers at a career crossroads. Their message is clear: they’re not done serving. They’re ready to move, take a pay cut, and work for leaders across the political spectrum—because for them, public service isn’t just a job. It’s a calling. We’re in a rare moment to rethink how government hires, and who it attracts. That starts with rebranding public service, modernizing recruitment, and investing in talent where it matters most: our cities and states. The future of public service is local. And it’s already underway—one city, one state, one hire at a time. 📊 Full report: https://lnkd.in/gVEQ3B97 🚀 Key findings: https://lnkd.in/g4AAYCr2 Learn more at civicmatch.org.

  • Sharing two great opportunities from the Office of the Auditor in Portland, Oregon. The Auditor’s Office has two lawyer job positions opening up and wants to get these in front of the federal community! ⚖️ General Counsel | City of Portland 💵 $157,022.61 - $228,250.03 https://lnkd.in/e2DzeNeP ⚖️ Chief Hearings Officer | City of Portland 💵 $142,734.16 - $195,354.35 https://lnkd.in/eAemyAeS By way of background, the Portland Auditor’s Office is headed by an elected auditor, and independent from City Council, the Mayor, and the City’s leadership team. The Auditor’s Office exists to serve the public interest and ensures open and accountable government by providing impartial reviews and investigations, access to public information, and services to City government and the public. It employs nearly 50 people across seven divisions, which includes Audit Services (responsible for performance audits of City offices and functions and operating the City’s “fraud hotline”), the City Ombudsman, Elections (responsible for administering City elections, campaign finance enforcement, lobbying regulation enforcement), the City Council clerk’s office, the City’s archives and records division, and the Hearings Office (which conducts quasi-judicial administrative hearings). These are both hybrid roles, but employees who engage in remote work must do so from Oregon or Washington state (there can be short-term exceptions for new employees). Also, the City offers truly excellent benefits!
