Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chris Albanis and Dr. Zach Balest of North Georgia Eye Associates joined hundreds of ophthalmologists last week on #CapitolHill to advocate for the eye care of patients during the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s (AAO) Mid-Year Forum. This annual event brings #ophthalmologists together to meet with their US Senators and Representatives to discuss topics including advancing enhancing access to care for patients, eye #research, reducing the burdens of prior authorizations and more. In addition, colleagues also met to discuss a wide range of policy and practice management matters affecting the #patientcare journey. While in DC, the AAO Leadership Development Program (LDP) met to discuss what advocacy and leadership have in common, leadership skills learned during their day on the Hill, and how to effectively advocate as leader. Dr. Albanis shared, "I'm honored and humbled to serve as the Director of the #AAO LDP. Twenty talented ophthalmic leaders are selected through a rigorous nominating process to continue enhancing their leadership skills through learning, team building, knowledge and fun!
