About us

ENLETS is an EU-funded initiative that brings together representatives of European Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) specialised in technologies for security and modern policing. ENLETS covers several different domains, with current focus on: • Public Order & Safety • Financial Investigations • Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems • Digital Workplace • Operational Centres • Green Policing Each of these ‘Technology Interest Groups’ (TIGs) brings together practitioners and experts in selected technologies and thematic areas. Each group monitors security technologies, exchanges and disseminates best practices and engages in the co-development of modern tools and processes – often by initiating new R&D projects. We are supported by National Contact Points (NCPs), direct liaisons between the individual member states. All actions are agreed upon by the community’s Core Group, ENLETS’ main management body. It is an advisory and decision group that makes directional decisions on activities, initiatives, and projects. The Core Group is currently chaired by National Police of the Netherlands and the NCP that holds the EU Presidency.

  • We work closely with the country holding the Presidency of the European Council. That’s why Patrick Padding, our Core Group Leader, visited Poland last week to meet with representatives of the Polish Police.   Key highlights: 📆 In April, the Polish Presidency will host a National Contact Point meeting, which will include discussions on Digital Transformation. ⚙️ Various Technology Interest Groups are focusing on topics that affect public safety. These efforts can be brought together through different scenarios, and working with our Polish colleagues fits well into this approach. 🚓 The KOBAN -Identifying Future Capabilities for Community Policing project, coordinated by the ENLETS Core Group Leader, was introduced to the Polish Police representatives.   You can find a full summary of the visit on our website: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dsqzbVK7 👈   #ENLETS #KOBAN #Poland #Poland25EU | Rashel Talukder | Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union

  • As Poland takes the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2025, ENLETS is gearing up to support key activities. Last week, we hosted a productive meeting in Poznań. 📌 Discussions focused on: ▪️ Aligning with EC and member state priorities. ▪️ Strengthening collaboration across ENLETS' Technology Interest Groups (TIGs). The Poznań meeting has set a strong foundation for an impactful 2025. 🚀 👇 Check out the details and results of this meeting on our website! https://lnkd.in/dWSwQZ6X #EU2025 #PolishPresidency #Poznań #LawEnforcement #Security Although the group in Poznań only briefly visited the Christmas market, the festive spirit helped to rally the team for a productive two days of meetings, which will help ENLETS hit the ground running in 2025!

🔉 SAVE the DATES. 🗓️ Next year marks the end of the EU-HYBNET project after 5 years of activities dedicated to moving the #hybridthreats dialogue forward in Europe. Although the project will close, the network will continue through the stewardship of The European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats. Still, before we start talking about wrapping the project up, there is much to be done. Not least, the final events on the 12th and 13th of February 2025! Make sure to save the date for the Final Future Trends Workshop (#FTW2025) and Annual Workshop (#AW2025), where we will present a culmination of project results, host important keynote speeches, and - significantly - discuss the future of hybrid threats in Europe. Join us in Brussels to be part of the discourse that will contribute to shaping the hybrid threat response in Europe. #HorizonEU #EuropeanSecurity

A Garda investigation team continues to investigate the serious public disorder incident of 23 November 2023. This morning we published CCTV images of 99 ‘Persons of Interest’ on www.garda.ie. We are requesting the assistance of the general public to identify these individuals so they can be ruled “in our out” of the investigative process. • Core Group Leader Patrick Padding represents ENLETS in Railpol’s latest meeting in Berlin, where the groups discussed cooperation between the networks to help strengthen safety and #EUsecurity.   Both communities are members of the Law Enforcement Networks Working Group of DG Home, a platform bringing together the EU networks #Airpol, #Railpol, #Aquapol, European Surveillance Group (#ESG), #ATLAS, High-Risk Security Network (#HRSN), the Inflight Security Officer Network (#EIFS) and #ENLETS.   During his visit, Patrick met with the French Secretariat of the network, Railpol’s management team, and the Chairs of the working groups, which cover #counterterrorism, #publicorder, rail accidents, and crime.    ENLETS’ current priorities - Mission-critical Communication (#MCC) and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (#CUAS)- threaded through the meeting. Railpol will support threat strategies regarding C-UAS scenarios, and the two networks will explore closer cooperation next year through a Memorandum of Understanding!

  • ENLETS attended the #AIRPOL Plenary Congress this week in Bucharest, Romania. We thank the Romanian hosts for a wonderful event and our AIRPOL colleagues for inviting our network to participate. AIRPOL is the Law Enforcement Network created to build synergies between police and border guard units working to fight crime in the European aviation sector. Although their network has a different mission from the ENLETS community, there are many similarities and opportunities for collaboration between our groups. Using the diverse experiences and resources from across Europe, we can strengthen the impact of our initiatives. As ENLETS progresses through the latest funding programme, we will focus on topics connected with countering unmanned aircraft systems and mission-critical communications. In the coming months, we will explore the specific opportunities for collaboration between our groups to implement shared action, for example, in scenarios and exercises that will allow us to test and validate our findings. One of the topics we highlighted during our presentation was the opportunities available for Law Enforcement within EU-funded research projects that can be triggered through activities in our networks. The example given, INTERCEPT Horizon Europe, stems from actions in #iLEAD - an ENLETS-inspired project. Intercept is a fascinating pre-commercial procurement action addressing the challenge of safely stopping vehicles remotely. #LEAs #ISFNetworks #CUAS
