Great coverage of our partnership with Lennar in Builder Online. “We are putting geothermal into brand new homes and townhomes that start in the $400,000 range. This is no longer a product that is only available to a wealthy homeowner,” Dan Yates, Dandelion's CEO says. “It’s going to be a real eye opener for a lot of folks to internalize that a builder with the reputation and the cost conscious profile of Lennar can introduce geothermal into that framework.” https://lnkd.in/gYm9aAvJ

Today, alongside Governor Polis and leaders from Lennar, Xcel, and the CO Energy Office, we announced what will quickly become the largest deployment of residential geothermal in US history: Dandelion is installing geothermal heating and cooling systems in 1,500+ Lennar homes across 14 communities in the Denver area over the next two years: https://lnkd.in/g-mccS-9 It's a huge milestone in our quest to bring geothermal into the mainstream!

Our CEO Dan Yates recently had a chance to sit down with Collaborative Fund, our very first seed investor who took a chance on us, to talk geothermal.
The secret to affordable, sustainable heating might literally be buried beneath your feet. Curious? Dan Yates, CEO of Dandelion Energy, shares how they do it.

Great conversation with Josh Dorfman of Supercool!
Kathy Hannun spun Dandelion Energy out of Google X—Alphabet’s lab for moonshot ideas—in 2017, aiming to make geothermal energy a no-brainer for homeowners: easy to install, cheaper than traditional heating and cooling, and so seamless you barely notice it—except when you see the monthly savings. How Hannun and her team pulled it off is a testament to their grit, tenacity, and commitment to iterative improvements that led to industry-shifting breakthroughs. Homes that use geothermal for heating and cooling slash their carbon emissions by up to 75%. Plus, energy prices and grid emissions dip as utilities rely less on high-cost, high-emission peaker plants during peak demand. Last month, Dandelion introduced the Dandelion Geo, the world’s most efficient geothermal heat pump, set to make these benefits even more widespread. Having launched in the Northeast with several thousand home installations completed, Dandelion is now scaling nationally, partnering with installers and production homebuilders like Lennar, one of the largest in the U.S. Soon, geothermal energy will be the standard heating and cooling solution for many thousands of new homes. Welcome to a supercool future where geothermal comes with the house. Kathy joins host Josh Dorfman on the podcast this week. Listen here: https://lnkd.in/ejRYVBkQ

"If 70% of buildings in the US adopted geothermal heat pumps, that has the potential to save the energy system more than $300 billion in grid costs and reduce winter heating bills by $19 billion a year, a study released last year by the Department of Energy found." Thank you CNET for an informative article on the future of geothermal heating and cooling!

We’re thrilled to announce that we have successfully closed a $40 million Series C funding round led by GV (Google Ventures) and supported by Collaborative Fund, LenX, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and NGP. This funding enables Dandelion to expand beyond the Northeast, and provide its products and services nationwide. We now offer both our revolutionary new heat pump, the Dandelion Geo, and our turnkey geothermal services for home builders to partners across the country. “Dandelion is becoming the preferred partner—nationwide—to the country’s largest home builders and multifamily developers as they shift to building fully electrified homes.” – Dan Yates, CEO, Dandelion It’s a great day for geothermal! https://lnkd.in/gRVF7Ap5
