  • This #NationalParkWeek and #NationalVolunteerWeek we are excited to highlight our Community Volunteer Ambassadors (CVAs) who kicked off their winter cohort with immersive Early Service Training at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park - Seattle Unit! From March 17–21, 2025, over 20 CVAs dove into hands‑on sessions—presenting their Early Service Projects, mastering volunteer program best practices, and honing leadership skills like non‑violent communication and project management. They even explored historic Pioneer Square and met with former CVA‑turned‑Park Guide Aisyah Aziz to learn about career pathways in the NPS. A huge thank you to Klondike Gold Rush – Seattle Unit NHP, the NPS Pacific West Region Office, and our returning second‑year CVAs for making this training unforgettable. Congrats to our winter cohort for your dedication to building stronger volunteer programs and community connections in parks from coast to coast! 🌲🤝 Read more about their kickoff experience: https://ow.ly/vR6550VCRQV National Park Service Stewards Individual Placements #NationalVolunteerWeek #CVAProgram #ConservationLegacy #StewardsPlacements #VolunteerTraining #NPS

Our spring field crews are out in full force and have just returned from their second hitch! This season started with a few epic training hitches, and despite the rain, wind, and snow, our new members persisted and came out with many new skills and certifications! Here are some of the highlights: 🧠 18 crew leaders and assistant leaders received training in leadership, conflict resolution, and practical field skills ⛑️ 60 members received Wilderness First Aid certifications ⛏️ For trails training, we rerouted and built more sustainable trails in Patagonia to mitigate erosion 🪚 A very snowy chainsaw and crosscut training at the Wood for Life site in Flagstaff 🌿 3 crews received hands-on herbicide training 🎤 Plus…a talent show?

  • At New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, Appalachian Conservation Corps crews are hard at work improving access and safety along the Bluestone Turnpike Trail. As part of a multi-phase infrastructure project, these young leaders are constructing approximately 2,300 linear feet of raised causeway across 2.9 miles of trail—ensuring this popular backcountry route remains passable for years to come. Crews are also tackling much-needed deferred maintenance by clearing fallen trees, brushing trail corridors, repairing tread, improving drainage, and installing erosion control structures. Working alongside NPS Roads and Trails staff, they’re gaining hands-on training in trail maintenance and backcountry safety—all while helping keep public lands open, resilient, and ready for the next adventure. This is how we show up for parks. #NationalParkWeek #TrailCrew #PublicLands #TrailMaintenance #NewRiverGorge

  • Excited for National Park Week? Here’s a sneak peek at one of the many Conservation Legacy programs improving infrastructure across our national parks. 🏔️🔨 At Yosemite National Park, participants in Stewards Individual Placements Traditional Trades Advancement Program (TTAP) are gaining hands-on experience while completing the essential repair and infrastructure work that helps keep parks open, safe, and accessible. 📷 1: Zoe is tackling a crucial maintenance project—replacing the roof of a kiosk in Lower Pines Campground. Her work supports visitor safety and helps preserve a key piece of the park’s infrastructure. 📷 2: Harrison and Dave are milling lumber for window and doorframe restoration, contributing to the long-term preservation of Yosemite’s historic structures. Their efforts are a powerful reminder that behind every park experience is a team of dedicated individuals working hard to keep these spaces running and ready for the next generation! #NationalParkWeek #HPTC #TTAP #PreserveAndProtect
