🚀 CODA at SESAR Innovation Days 2024 🌍 From 4–6 December 2024, the SESAR Joint Undertaking Innovation Days (SIDs) in Rome brought together leaders in Air Traffic Management (ATM). Hosted by Aeroporti di Roma, ENAV, and Leonardo, this flagship event showcased innovative demonstrations, exhibitions, and the Young Scientist Award. 🌟 CODA's Interactive Demonstrations: In collaboration with the TRUSTY project, CODA offered two immersive experiences: ATC Game Simulation: A landing management game where attendees faced progressively complex scenarios. ✈️ Advancing Aviation Safety: CODA Validation Exercise in Madrid In November 2024, the CODA project reached an important milestone during a validation exercise held at the CRIDA A.I.E. facilities in Madrid. 🏢✨ Our host, Patricia Lopez de Frutos, described the event: "As part of the CODA project, during the week of November 21st, we conducted data collection on psychophysiological and subjective measures of mental workload, fatigue, stress, and vigilance from air traffic controllers. These efforts aim to calibrate a psychological model capable of predicting these states. To achieve this, we ran various scenarios designed to elicit these effects, with the valuable participation of air traffic controllers from IFATCA. This validation process has been led by CRIDA A.I.E., with contributions from BrainSigns, who collected EEG, HR, and SGV data, and the Universidad de Granada (UGR), who designed the fatigue and stress questionnaires. 🚀 Advancing AI in Air Traffic Management: CODA at the SESAR AI Flagship Workshop 🌍 On 11 November 2024, the SESAR AI Flagship Workshop took place at Spazio Europa in Rome, bringing together brilliant minds to shape the future of Artificial Intelligence in Air Traffic Management (ATM). Supported by ENGAGE 2 and the SESAR Joint Undertaking, this event was a hub for collaboration, innovation, and meaningful dialogue. 🌟 Among the standout projects presented was the CODA Project. A special thanks to Christophe HURTER from ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile for his insightful presentation, which highlighted CODA’s mission to design human-compatible AI systems. By aligning with EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s AI Roadmap 2.0, CODA is integrating Level 1 (assistance to humans) and Level 2 (human-AI teaming) automation — ensuring the user remains in charge of decisions at all times. 💡 The session also featured engaging discussions on the future of AI in aviation, sparking ideas and opportunities for collaboration in this rapidly evolving field. 👏 A big thank you to the organizers, speakers, and all participants for making this workshop a success and driving the conversation forward! ✈️ Let’s keep innovating and shaping the future of aviation! CODA aims to develop a digital assistant capable of:  • Predicting traffic patterns.  • Assessing air traffic controllers’ (ATCOs) workload, stress, and attention.  • Dynamically adapting strategies, such as increasing automation, deploying AI tools, or modifying airspace configurations. ✈ ENAC plays a central role across various work packages:  • Concept & Use Case Definition: Leads scenario development and organizes brainstorming sessions. • Future ATCO Roles: Explores future roles and automation strategies. • Task Prediction Models: Designs HMIs and visualization tools for explainable AI predictions. • Adaptive Automation Development: Focuses on user-centric HMI design and seamless AI integration.
