📌CHAI and Unitaid have published a white paper outlining key considerations for national health programs considering integrating thermal ablation (TA) for cervical precancer treatment. Highlights: ✅TA devices are approximately 75% cheaper than cryotherapy treatments ✅TA devices are easier to use, more efficient, and can be deployed in any setting, enabling wider access to treatment ✅TA devices can be used by lower cadre health workers with minimal training The paper includes end-to-end guidance on procuring and rolling out TA devices and optimizing service delivery to treat precancerous cervical lesions. 👨👩👧👦Every child deserves a healthy start—and no mother should face preventable barriers to care.🤱🏻 On this #WorldHealthDay, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every mother knows her status, receives timely care, and that every baby is born healthy—free from HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B (HBV). In partnership with the Government of West Bengal and technical support from the William J. Clinton Foundation (WJCF), the India-affiliate of CHAI, a first-of-its-kind Triple Elimination initiative is demonstrating what’s possible when maternal and child health services are integrated to tackle these three infections together. 🌟Why This Matters🌟 Despite the availability of effective prevention, testing, and treatment tools, siloed health systems and vertically structured disease programs often result in missed opportunities for early intervention. An integrated approach is key to ensuring that no mother or child is left behind. This initiative is generating compelling evidence that integration, early detection, and decentralized care can drive transformative outcomes—for mothers, babies, and entire communities. 🔗 Read how this effort is creating healthier beginnings and hopeful futures: https://ow.ly/bVgN50VvygG #WorldHealthDay2025 #HealthyBeginnings #HopefulFutures #ViralHepatitis #TripleElimination #GlobalHealth

✨Over one million children screened for disabilities across 8 countries✨ With funding from the The LEGO Foundation and technical support from CHAI, eight countries have screened over a million children for disabilities and developmental delays. This outstanding achievement was made possible by engaging the private and public health and education sectors, empowering community health workers, and bringing services closer to communities. By identifying children with disabilities early, we ensure that they have better opportunities to play, learn and thrive. 📢CHAI has just released an HIV Market Impact Memo that highlights key gaps in HIV service delivery following reductions in global funding. Drawing on data from 14 low- and middle-income countries, our analysis identifies challenges across the HIV care continuum, including prevention, testing, treatment, and supply chain management. Some of the key findings include: ✅Humanitarian impact: 8 countries at risk of ARV stockouts, with additional risks across prevention and testing commodities ✅Children at risk: ARV stockouts put children at significant risk with recent data showing that 1 in 5 children under one year who experienced a treatment interruption died as a result ✅Economic consequences: US$55 million in pharmaceutical stock at risk of cancellation or non-payment, destabilizing supply chains and posing a significant risk to manufacturers ✅Healthcare workforce disruptions: 370,000 professionals previously supported by PEPFAR face job uncertainty with many contracts already terminated or temporarily paused. This analysis provides insights to inform policymakers, funders, and implementing partners as they work to ensure continued progress in the global HIV response. This #WorldTBDay, we reaffirm our commitment to support the ambitious vision of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) of eliminating TB and ensuring a TB-free India. #TBharegaDeshJeetega TB remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases worldwide and India, under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has made remarkable strides in combating this deadly disease through the National TB Elimination Program. The country’s rapid scale-up of indigenous molecular tests, adoption of improved treatment regimens, nutritional support of INR 1000 (US$11.188) to all TB patients per month, and adoption of AI-enabled-digital-chest x-rays for active case finding are all far-reaching evidence-based interventions that could inform elimination strategies across other high burden countries in the global south. We, at Clinton Health Access Initiative, are privileged to, through our affiliate William J. Clinton Foundation, support innovations in strengthening early detection efforts under the leadership of the Central TB Division, MoHFW. We are particularly proud of our efforts in supporting the scale-up of AI-powered chest X-rays for rapid diagnosis of both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals; between April 2023 and January 2025, we have organized over 10,000 health camps across 11 states, screening over seven lakh (700,000) individuals in high-risk communities. In the coming months, we also look forward to supporting the scale up of Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment for children and household contacts of TB patients in the states of UP and Bihar, which would help develop evidence and strategies for preventing the spread of the disease across high-burden countries. By leveraging AI for TB detection, treatment, and prevention, we are moving closer to a #TBFreeIndia. #TogetherAgainstTB #WorldTBDay Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

Now in its second year, Africa's first regional oxygen manufacturing initiative is expected to triple oxygen production and reduce oxygen prices by over 25%. Funded by Unitaid through a blended financing model, the initiative has now expanded to Tanzania, following its launch last year in Kenya. His Excellency Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa attended the official groundbreaking ceremony in Dar es Salaam. “Expanding local oxygen production is a crucial step toward ensuring no patient goes without this lifesaving resource,” said Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa. “This investment enhances our ability to meet growing demand, making our supply more self-sufficient, and reducing reliance on external sources." The regional oxygen manufacturing initiative will use a hub-and-spoke model, where central production sites (hubs) will distribute oxygen to smaller facilities (spokes), ensuring wider oxygen access. The manufacturing network will create a steady and reliable supply of oxygen in the region and beyond. “Expanding regional oxygen production is a vital step toward stronger, more resilient health systems,” said Esther Mtumbuka, CHAI Tanzania Country Director. “By working with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health and Unitaid, and leveraging innovative financing, we are building a sustainable, locally driven oxygen supply—one that ensures facilities have reliable, affordable access now and in the future.” Learn more: https://ow.ly/AnaW50Vm7lm #InvestInOxygen #OxygenAccess #HealthForAll #UHC
