💖 New cardiac technology at Spring Valley Hospital is a win for patients with a potential artery blockage. Drs. Neville Mistry, Leon Varjabedian and the Spring Valley Hospital cardiac team are the first in Nevada to use the CathWorks FFRangio® System, which blends artificial intelligence with computer-based technology to provide detailed images to show exactly what percentage of an artery is blocked during an angiogram(heart catheterization). This helps the interventional cardiologist determine whether the person needs a stent and precisely where the stent should be placed within the heart, while minimizing risk to the patients, by eliminating the need for blood thinners and invasive pressure wires. “I believe this new technology has the ability to dramatically change the way in which we manage heart disease,” said Dr. Mistry. “We are able to safely measure the degree and significance of blockages within the coronary arteries without using medications or specialty wires placed within the arteries, thus decreasing the risk of complications during these procedures.” Dr. Mistry explained the AI component uses the collective experience of hundreds of physicians and thousands of patients to review the patient’s heart anatomy and then use imaging to show the physician which blockages need to be fixed and which are mild enough to be managed with medications. Congratulations to Dr. Mistry, Dr. Varjabedian and the Spring Valley Hospital cardiac cath team for utilizing this new technology!
