The NACE 2025 Internship and Co-op Report is out this week, offering a final look at internship hiring projections for this year. We found that employers are forecasting a 3.1% decline in intern hiring overall. Its important to note that 70% of organizations plan to maintain or grow their intern hiring programs - signaling continued investment in early talent development. The downward shift among nearly 30% of respondents is primarily influenced by changes among the large companies that have previously hired in larger numbers, now reducing (this is reflected across a variety of industries). Join us for our upcoming virtual Internship Series: https://lnkd.in/g5DzQUaj, launching April 8, where we’ll take a deeper dive into the trends and benchmarks we discovered. There’s still time to sign up—we’d love to have you join the conversation! The ROI of Career Services: A Critical Investment for Student Success: In today’s higher education landscape, student outcomes and return on investment (ROI) have become essential indicators of a college’s value. At the heart of driving these outcomes? Career services. According to our ongoing research, students who engage with their campus career center are significantly more likely to secure internships during school—and job offers after graduation. Career centers aren’t just a nice-to-have; they are a strategic necessity. Our latest Career Services Benchmark Report https://lnkd.in/eiHXxCaJ reveals a positive trend: more institutions are offering in-person career fairs, student appointments, and support for internship placement. However, despite upward trends in service delivery and budget allocations, staffing levels have remained relatively steady. This suggests that career services professionals are doing more with the same—or even fewer—resources. While that’s commendable, in the times we live in, its an imperative for institutions to recognize the clear connection between investing in career services and improving student outcomes, long-term ROI, and even enrollment growth. Now more than ever, it’s time for institutions to match the growing demand with the resources career services teams need to drive impact. National Association of Colleges and Employers
