We just wrapped our first-ever Brex Customer Meetup in San Francisco, and what a night it was. ✨ A big thank you to our co-hosts, SeatGeek and Planful, for helping make it a meaningful and memorable evening. These meetups are designed to bring our community together—to create space for real conversations, shared insights, and new connections. We’re walking away energized by the dialogue and already looking ahead to next week’s event in New York. If you’re joining us there, we’re looking forward to seeing you!

As a founder, you don’t have to do it all—nor should you. The key to success is recognizing your weaknesses and hiring strategically to turn them into strengths. That’s the biggest lesson Sophia Goldberg, founder of Ansa, learned on her entrepreneurial journey. Interested in learning more? Seeing your company’s billboard light up NYC? Bucket list material.🌟 Just ask founder Zoya Lehrer—she and her team at Orgo shared an unforgettable moment as their ad took center stage in Times Square. With Brex rewards, we helped turn that vision into reality, and want to do the same for founders everywhere.

Fraud attempts are getting more sophisticated, but the right safeguards make all the difference. Brex approval workflows helped catch this one for the Arcade team before it cost thousands—proof that strong processes matter.
This morning, I caught a scam that would have swindled us out of tens of thousands of dollars. Thankfully, we had a process setup in place via Brex for an approval workflow. I won't go too into detail about the specific scam, but someone successfully impersonated me and convinced the team that there was an invoice to be paid. This morning Brex alerted me to a large bill and I was able to decline the transaction after going through the specific invoice and seeing the fake email. Here's an Arcade on we've setup Brex and our policies. Moving forward, we're going to be even more vigilant.

For our first Upstarts Media newsletter, I dug into Granola, the AI meeting notes app that's become a favorite tool of VCs and founders, growing 10% weekly. Granola CEO Christopher Pedregal spoke to me about his plans for a "tool for thought" and the crowded AI note-taking startup field. Why start with Granola? For weeks, I was hearing about the product from VCs and startup testers. So in the weeks leading up to launching Upstarts, I tested out the product across 25+ audience feedback calls. It was the first note-taker I actually enjoyed using. Granola raised a $20M Series A in October but is in a crowded category, with a number of better-funded, larger startup peers. Building a lasting business is its upcoming challenge. Thanks to Olivia Moore, Grace Isford, Nabeel Hyatt, Laura Kinder, Crunchbase and Similarweb for their thoughts and data for the story! And a big thank you to our launch partner Brex for helping ensure this newsletter post is free for all Upstarts subscribers. https://lnkd.in/eBG9X7rc
