Yesterday, Ascend President and CEO Bradley Rhorer and dozens of other leaders joined Indiana Governor Mike Braun and Indiana Secretary of Education Katie Jenner at the Indiana State Library as they highlighted key partnerships that have been established to ensure Indiana’s new readiness seals are as valuable as possible for high school students. Ascend works with hundreds of employer partners around the state and is engaging them to develop best practices for work-based learning experiences. These experiences are important components of the new high school diploma readiness seals.

I had the privilege of joining my wonderful colleague Erica Viar and our partners at Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation (Claire Fiddian-Green & Kami Nielsen) last week in Zürich, Switzerland to lead the construction delegation trip. Over the course of the week, we had the chance to learn about construction-related vocational and professional education and training (VPET) programs for high school students and adults in Switzerland. Eager to see the learnings and takeaways this group brings back to Indiana as we continue to explore the apprenticeship models for the construction industry. #CEMETS #iLabIndiana Ascend Indiana

A message from Eric Fisher about his recent trip to Switzerland as part of the CEMETS iLab Indiana construction industry delegation. ⬇️ "A sustainable construction workforce relies on robust training programs. Therefore, construction workforce development must foster collaboration among the various trades that constitute this complex industry. It's crucial to understand the experiences of other sectors in attracting and training the next generation of builders. I would like to express my gratitude to Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation and Ascend Indiana for inviting Indiana Constructors, Inc. and Work IN Roads to Switzerland as part of the CEMETS iLab Indiana construction industry delegation. This opportunity underscores the importance of collaboration in our field. As Dr. James Comer aptly stated, “No significant learning can occur without a significant relationship.” This event has forged meaningful connections across all sectors of our industry. In the 21st century, construction education should focus on work-based learning and knowledge through active industry engagement, collaboration, and instructor training. It was a privilege to be among industry colleagues and peers discussing the future of workforce training programs in the construction industry. #CEMETS #iLabIndiana #RichardMFairbanksFoundation #AscendIndiana #WorkINRoads #IndianaConstructorsInc #GraduateSaturdayJobsiteMonday
