Ansa Capital reposted this
Last week, I guest lectured a class at Princeton University - a new experience for me! Princeton has been a key partner to Ansa Capital from the beginning and stepping into a classroom there was both humbling and energizing. I walked through how we think as investors. How we make decisions with limited information. How we size risk. How conviction actually gets built. I shared parts of the Ansa journey, along with case studies that have shaped how I approach the work. But what made the experience stand out were the people and the questions. Professor Hejazi’s personal story moved me. His students were sharp and engaged, and their questions pushed the conversation in directions I didn’t anticipate. They asked about how I got into the industry and the people who helped me early on. They wanted to know what made the best mentors I’ve worked with so impactful and who they were. We talked about how young investors can use their position to their advantage, how we think about sourcing, and how we differentiate in competitive situations. We even spent time on what it took to raise our first fund, and how we are thinking about scaling the firm. I left the room thinking about things I hadn’t revisited in years. Teaching pushes us to slow down and reflect - I’m looking forward to doing it again!
