WE’VE CRACKED IT! The Amogy team has successfully sailed the world’s first carbon-free, ammonia-powered maritime vessel. Retrofitted with our ammonia-to-electrical power system, the NH3 Kraken—a 1957 tugboat originally equipped with diesel generators and electric motors—took its historic maiden voyage on the Hudson River, powered by green ammonia, emitting zero carbon emissions. A gigantic shoutout to our extraordinary team for working tirelessly to make this ambitious vision a reality. This achievement is not just a win for us but a significant step forward in the journey towards a greener, more sustainable future. Thank you Solex Thermal Science for spotlighting our white paper in this edition of Mythbuster Monday! 🙌 In this white paper, we tackled eight of the most common myths surrounding #ammonia, including its production, transportation, storage, and use. Want to dive deeper? Download the white paper here: https://lnkd.in/eY6dssrM
It's time for another edition of Mythbuster Monday! The ammonia market has long struggled with common misconceptions, largely around its carbon footprint. In a 2023 white paper commissioned by Amogy, analysts discuss eight prevailing myths associated with the production, transportation, storage, handling and use of ammonia — including whether ammonia production without fossil fuels is feasible. Of note, the report notes that, "ammonia production has a rainbow of production pathways based on its feedstock," and "in the future, the use of zero-carbon hydrogen made from renewable electricity will produce ammonia that is carbon free throughout its entire lifecycle." The challenge of adopting green ammonia lies in its cost; however, the report also cites several changes could put green ammonia at price parity with fossil oils as early as the 2030s. This topic, along with others, will be at the forefront of discussion at the 2025 Fertilizer Sustainability Symposium. Join us at Brunel University of London July 28-29 as we explore emerging technologies and regulations that are ushering in a rapid decarbonisation of the global fertilizer industry. https://lnkd.in/g3Zf8uwN #fertilizer #urea #nitrogen #ammonia #esg #sustainability #circulareconomy #carbon #emissions #wateruse #energyefficiency #processing #mythbustingmonday Ammonia Energy Association Ammonia Europe Mark Brouwer
