Happy Bicycle Day!!! * 80  years, ago ‘one of those inquisitive types’, Dr. Albert Hoffman, a Swiss chemist, was studying a compound with potential applications as a migraine medicine. Due to some sloppy PPE, he accidentally absorbed around 20 micrograms (slightly less than a grain of salt) of LSD-25 and recorded in his journal that he had a remarkable experience. A few days later, on April 19th, Hofmann took his experiment further and ingested 250 micrograms of LSD-25, with his assistant’s knowledge. He noted: “Beginning dizziness, feeling of anxiety, visual distortions, symptoms of paralysis, desire to laugh.” The journal went dark after that. Two days later he added that his trip had been most intense from six to eight p.m. – and that during that time, he rode home on his bicycle. * Today, April 19th is known as Bicycle Day and we honor the long, complicated journey of LSD- from counterculture to a bright future of responsible integration into modern medicine and even a disruptor of big pharma’s profitable grip on psychiatric drugs. * Now, emerging research is starting to change the perception of #LSD from a drug that can negatively affect mental health and wellbeing, to one that can help with symptoms of #anxiety and #depression. * Its benefits are also being studied in relation to helping individuals who are trying to overcome drug dependency. * Today there are 27 ongoing and planned Phase I–III trials for lysergic acid diethylamide (#LSD) * Alkemist Labs is one of the few testing labs in the US that can federally *legally test LSD (*for select clients with appropriate DEA registration) and it is on our ISO17025 scope!!! #alkemistlabs Elan Sudberg Petra Erlandson
