Albion is proud to have contributed to bringing new life to the MLK Fulton County community library. We hope that everyone was able to reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s contributions throughout his life and the differences he made in our communities. Thank you to our partners, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture.
MPS would like to wish all a happy MLK day as we observe the life and legacy of one of the most significant people in the history of the United States. Recently we had the pleasure of partnering with Albion General Contractors, Inc. on the Dr. Martin Luther King Library for the Fulton County Library System. While there are many buildings and roads named for him, not many are blocks from his boyhood home and Ebenezer Baptist Church--his community. Libraries are much like communities, in that they are places that help build and develop people. Dr. King's community - Sweet Auburn - provided him an opportunity while growing up, to experience first-hand one of the most independent African American enclaves at the time in the U.S. The custom imagery that MPS created for the library is done in the style of civil rights graphic artist Emory Douglas and showcases images of the historic neighborhood against bold blocks of color. The community of people and places represented in the images helped MLK become the man he did.
