An exciting new facility recently broke ground for Piedmont Technical College! In partnership with Self Regional Healthcare, Piedmont Technical College is welcoming the new Self Regional Healthcare Center for Health Sciences on their Lex Walters Campus in Greenwood, SC. This facility will play a significant role in addressing the high demand for healthcare professionals by enhancing PTC’s training programs and equipping their students with the skills they need for successful healthcare careers. This two-story, 27,000 square-foot facility will include simulation rooms, skills labs, a catheterization and echocardiography lab, classrooms and computer labs, offering essential hand-on experience for each student. Self Regional Healthcare will also be donating new equipment to the facility such as patient simulators, hospital beds, infusion pumps, mobile workstations, ultrasound systems, and more. Made possible in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration and state funding, this investment comes at a crucial time for healthcare, supporting the local economy and enhancing the overall well-being of the community. We look forward to seeing the impact this Center will have over many years to come upon its completion in July, 2026!

A "one-stop-shop" for Spartanburg County and the City of Spartanburg: This project marks the first-ever joint city-county government facility in Spartanburg, SC--combining resources for the benefit of all. Located at the corner of South Church Street and West Broad Street, a five-story municipal complex will streamline government services for residents. This project was made possible through the funding provided by the one-cent capital sales tax, which was approved by voters in 2017. The design blends Spartanburg's historic charm with modern features like a glass lobby, sleek masonry details, and an asymmetrical layout, all while honoring downtown's historic charm. The complex will house a new chamber, meeting rooms, and welcoming outdoor spaces for public use. A big shoutout to our incredible MPS Spartanburg team and our project partner David M. Schwarz Architects for bringing this municipal building to life. Construction is set to begin this October, with completion expected in two years. #spartanburgsc

Is your healthcare facility ready for the unexpected? 🌪️ 🌩️ Disaster-resilient healthcare design goes beyond durability—it’s about safety, operational continuity, and sustainability. Recent natural disasters have reinforced a critical lesson: hospitals and other critical healthcare facilities must be designed to withstand and operate during crises. From hurricanes and flooding to wildfires and earthquakes, hospitals rely on redundant power, flood protection, and structural resilience to keep patients and staff safe and life-saving services running. By integrating smart infrastructure, emergency preparedness planning, and sustainable solutions, hospitals can stay operational when communities need them most. 🔗 Learn more: Disaster-Resilient Healthcare Facilities https://hubs.li/Q03fgvfS0 #resilientdesign #disasterpreparedness #healthcaredesign #mps #mpsarchitecture #ideastakingshape

Another great Spartanburg project by McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and David M. Schwarz Architects. Spartanburg continues to change its look yearly. Having both agencies in the same building will certainly be a benefit to residents. #MPS #Spartanburg
Construction is set to start in October on the joint City of Spartanburg and Spartanburg County Government Municipal Complex, which was funded by the one-cent capital sales tax approved by voters in 2017. The facility will be the first of its kind in the state, providing a ‘one-stop shop’ of sorts, uniting services offered by each agency under one roof. https://lnkd.in/esuxUiaF

For over a decade, MPS has been honored to partner with Greenville Humane Society to build a vibrant campus aimed to give animals the care they need and the second chances they deserve. 🐾 Last week, the nonprofit animal shelter broke ground on its latest expansion – The Spay/Neuter Clinic and Community Pavilion! – These two buildings will offer additional resources to Greenville’s animal-loving community right along the Swamp Rabbit Trail. With expanded medical services, training programs, and a homebase for special events, these facilities will allow Greenville Humane Society to make an even greater impact in the Upstate. We are proud of these meaningful projects and our continued collaboration with the Greenville Humane Society. 🔗Learn more: Greenville Humane Society breaks ground on facility expansion - GREENVILLE JOURNAL https://hubs.li/Q03bmwsB0 #nonprofits #humanesociety #petcare #greenvillesc #mps #mpsarchitecture #ideastakingshape

Congrats to Nathan J. Schutte, AIA, LEED AP, CDT and McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture for making the T+L top list of anticipated hotels opening in 2025. I even got a sneak peak back in November. This is going to be a great addition to Charleston’s waterfront, including an extension of Waterfront Park which will connect to Fleet Landing and the port. The article also mentions The Dublin Auberge, another from our stellar team, recently completed in James Island. Well done!
The hotel openings to watch this year, according to nine industry experts—including a Ritz-Carlton Reserve resort in Costa Rica and a safari lodge in Rwanda. Click to get the full list.
