  • Welcome new AVA Advisory Board Member Chris Wickman!! Chris is a Functional Owner at Techneaux Technology Services, and during his military career, he was an Operation Specialist / Cryptology Operation Specialist / Cryptology with the U.S. Navy. From Chris… “We all have unique journeys that shape who we are today. Mine began in Northern Detroit, where I grew up and attended Wayne State University before realizing that academia wasn’t my calling. I needed to kick-start my adult life, and I found that opportunity through service in the U.S. Navy—what I like to think of as our government’s voluntary adventure tourism program. I enlisted as part of a Tiger Team, a Detroit Tigers-sponsored enlistment class, and graduated as the honor graduate from boot camp at Great Lakes RTC in the Chicago area. From there, I trained as a Cryptologic Technician at Fort Devens, MA, before serving on the USS Mount Baker out of Naval Weapons Station North Charleston, SC. I later cross-rated to Operations Specialist (OS2 E-5) and deployed multiple times to the Mediterranean, Middle East, and other parts of the world. I had the privilege of working within NATO Task Groups on major operations like Desert Shield and Southern Watch, as well as participating in humanitarian missions across Europe, Northern Africa, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. After my military service, I settled in Acadiana and transitioned into the oil and gas communications industry. The technical training and discipline I gained in the Navy were instrumental in helping me build a successful civilian career. I worked my way up from technician roles to operations and project management, always seeking out new challenges and opportunities to grow. Today, I am one of the veteran owners of Techneaux Technology Services, a locally founded tech company that prioritizes people over profits, teamwork, and community involvement. As the first veteran at Techneaux, I take great pride in having helped grow our veteran workforce to about 10% of our team, with many serving as top performers, leaders, and fellow owners. Beyond my work, I am honored to now serve on the board of the Acadiana Veteran’s Alliance (AVA), supporting its mission of WORK, HEAL, and GIVE. I am passionate about giving back to the veteran community and paying forward the opportunities I’ve had to others. I live in Youngsville with my two sons, Riley and Eli, who attend Southside High School. With two growing boys, you can often find me at Costco or Rouse’s—it comes with the territory! I look forward to continuing my work in business and veteran advocacy, helping others find success in their own journeys.” Welcome Chris to the team!!! 🇺🇸💪🏼

  • Day 3: Leadership Begins with Service Leadership isn’t a title; it’s an action. Our veterans understand this more than anyone. Their service didn’t come with fanfare or personal gain; it was driven by a commitment to a greater cause. This sense of service, when channeled into leadership roles within communities, can inspire change on an unprecedented scale. Let’s recognize the power of service and the leadership potential it unlocks in our veterans. 🇺🇸💪🏼
