180 Turning Lives Around is honored to be receiving this prestigious award from the MRCC.
🎉 The Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce congratulates our 🏆 2024 Beacon of Excellence 🏆 Beacon of Hope Award Honoree: 180 Turning Lives Around! 180 Turning Lives Around’s mission is to empower survivors and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault to find the courage and strength to turn their lives around. Launched in Monmouth County, NJ, in 1976, 180 Turning Lives Around is a future-focused agency with a history of firsts. It was the nation’s first federally-funded domestic violence shelter, and seven years ago, it opened the largest safe house in NJ, the only one that welcomes pets and men. The organization initiated the community’s first rape care hotline, along with NJ’s first youth helpline providing interactive support for 10-to-24-year-olds on any topic. In the mid-90s, it developed the community’s first creative arts therapy program and first transitional housing program. Six years ago, it opened Monmouth County’s first and only Family Justice Center. 180 Turning Lives Around was also involved in the state’s development of domestic violence and sexual assault response teams and helped establish two NJ coalitions. All of its services, which also include sexual violence online chat, counseling (offered in Spanish and English), case management, immigrant services, middle/high school sexual violence prevention presentations, legal assistance and advocacy, and Strangulation and Smothering Evaluation teams, remain unduplicated within the community. Operations are carried out by more than 80 full- and part-time employees, along with a network of highly trained volunteers, all working under the direction of a voluntary Board of Directors and a leadership team with extensive experience in social services and nonprofit management. Join us in celebrating their remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment to making a difference!
