Newly released Paramount+ crime thriller series MobLand was #FilmedAtFarnborough The hit new 10-part series directed by Guy Ritchie revolves around two warring London crime families and stars Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. Set and filmed in London and the Cotswolds, we welcomed their unit base here at Farnborough International Studios whilst filming on location at Farnborough Airport, the nearby Farnborough Air Sciences Trust Wind Tunnels and at Overton Papermill in Basingstoke. The series produced in association with Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, was created and written by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy and The Day of the Jackal) and written by Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari and Spectre), premiered March 30 to 2.2 million viewers for the first episode, becoming the streamer’s biggest global series launch ever. A unique feature of the unit base accommodated here at Farnborough was that it was run entirely on our site’s mains power, where 30% of our annual onsite energy is now generated by our investment in onsite solar panels. The UK creative industries employ 2.4 million people (2022). What a joy to share the opportunities that our sector offers thanks to ScreenSkills Working with the fantastic ScreenSkills team(Kay Verdon and Grace Richardson) and Rushmoor Borough Council (Jennifer Upstill) we were supported by the visionary ADOBE FOUNDATION/ Adobe to welcome the #inspire group from Farnborough Sixth Form College yesterday. It was a privaledge to talk to them about #film and #TV #opportunities and #skills alongside an incredible line up of expert speakers including top #VFX supervisor and Exec Producer Kate Vaisey nee Fernie, leading Animator and all round great guy Pete Nicholson and the fantastic Jon Wills - Build and DevOps at top games studio nDreams. Together, across our corners of the creative industry, we explored the diverse roles and essential skills needed as it is crucial for young people in our community to realise that creative opportunities are right at their doorstep- unlocking their potential and opening their eyes to what's possible! Following a tour of the Farnborough International Studios and some lunch we headed to Farnborough International Space Show at Farnborough International where we enjoyed talks by BBC powerhouses Peter Taylor LVO and Phil Dolling about space and broadcast on the main stage sponsored by Lockheed Martin accompanied by a fantastic satellite truck from NEP UK Rounding up the afternoon Alex Baker MP took the time to talk to the students.
