  • East Midlands Airport is poised to welcome more than 180,000 passengers during the Easter break as its 2025 summer season gets underway✈️ Fresh from celebrating its 60th anniversary in style, the airport has been getting ready for the first big getaway of the year with a huge range of improvements for passengers. Last week as part of the anniversary celebrations, a brand new restaurant, Alembic, was launched, offering Mediterranean-inspired light bites and premium, locally-source spirits.   • This week, East Midlands Airport (EMA) marked 60 years since its first flight! 🎉 A special celebration took place with guests of honour, Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Michael Kupar OBE, and former EMA Managing Director, Penny Coates. A letter of congratulations from King Charles acknowledged the airport’s remarkable growth and community impact. Managing Director Steve Griffiths reflected on EMA’s legacy as the region’s gateway to the world, serving 130 million passengers over the years. Long-serving staff member Tony Hall shared memories from his 42-year career, while guests enjoyed music from the Derby West Indian Community Association steel pans band. We were also pleased to welcome ITV Central, who marked the milestone with a brilliant special programme about what makes EMA unique.   • Ockbrook and Borrowash Tennis Club (OBTC) recently received £5,000 from the East Midlands Airport ‘Low Carbon Energy’ Community Fund towards portable LED lighting.
